Serie A Preview: Udinese vs. Torino

Updated: October 16, 2014

Match Date: 19 October 2014 (local time)

Venue: Stadio Friuli

The result of Udinese and Torino’s recent matches caused the clubs to plummet in the Serie A table. Eager to improve their respective ranks, it is only fitting to expect a down the wire match between the clubs.

The contenders

It is a bit hard for Udinese to accept the outcome of its recent match against Cesena. After taking the lead on the 62nd minute and enjoying the possibility of earning 3 points, Cesena’s Emmanuel Cascione was awarded with a penalty, which, he has successfully converted.

At the end of the day, the assumed victory resulted in an even steven finish and downward move for Udinese.

Another major dilemma that the club has to address is missing the services of Luis Muriel who is expected to be sidelined for 3 weeks after suffering a sprain in his ankle and knee.

Giampiero Ventura readily expressed his disappointment with his team’s “lack of confidence.” The squad went against the online betting favorite, Napoli and suffered a narrow defeat. This is despite taking an early lead on the 14th minute, thanks to Fabio Quagliarella’s goal.

Moreover, the squad will also miss the presence of Kamil Glik and Omar El Kaddouri, who both snatched a booking during the Napoli clash.

Possible head turner

Quagliarella could of course, feature in the upcoming match. However, just like Ventura mentioned, the squad needs an air of confidence in order for them to secure the needed victory.
