Southampton And Cardiff

Match Date: 12 April 2014 (local time)

Venue: The Friends Provident St. Mary’s Stadium

Mauricio Pochettino’s (ambition) to keep a clean slate against Manchester City ended with a not-so good add-on. Meanwhile, Cardiff’ City’s top brass, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitted Cardiff’s need for a miracle after a thrashing from Crystal Palace.
Southampton’s loss against Manchester City was indeed, a great blow to the Saints. Not only did they receive a thrashing from the Citizens, they will also miss the services of their star player, Jay Rodriguez.

Rodriguez left the club in a stretcher due to an injury that appeared to be a twisted knee. The striker, who scored 17 goals this season will be terribly missed despite their overt advantage over the relegation bound, Cardiff City.

Speaking of Cardiff City, it cannot be denied that there is an ounce of truth to Solksjaer’s need for a miracle. The loss to Crystal Palace was a crucial one. Not only did it mark their 4th winless streak in their last 6 matches, it also translates to a wasted opportunity.

Currently, the Bluebirds is compelled to collect 7 points to ensure their safety. Mathematically speaking, it is possible. They still have 4 more matches left this season. But the most important question is if they have what it takes to win against Stoke, Newcastle United and Chelsea. Even their match against Sunderland does not guarantee that they will snatch 3 points. However, Soljksjaer does not intend to give up Cardiff’s Premier League status yet.

A part of his strategy in the upcoming match is to sideline those who disobeyed his instructions during the Crystal Palace defeat.

Prediction:  Southampton

Rodriguez may be out, but this does not mean that Southampton’s overall form is in danger. Needless to say, the Saints remain as the match’s online betting favorite.
