Qualifying highlights

Spain is not the only squad that wants to seek redemption after a lackluster performance during the World Cup. Croatia and Italy were among those teams, which are determined to fight tooth and nail just to prove their worth. And indeed, they readily featured in EURO’s first qualifying match.

Croatia prevented Malta from clinching a point in during their encounter. The former ended the match with a 2-0 score in their favor and a step ahead in their qualifying bid.

On the other hand, Azerbaijan failed to capitalize on the momentum they had after sealing an equalizer against Bulgaria. A resilient Ventsislav Hristov scored the winning goal on the 86th and put Bulgaria on top of the food chain.

Lastly, after an early exit in the World Cup, Italy made an early display of strength and grit when it fought Norway. The Azzuris sealed 2 crucial goals, thanks to Simon Zaza and Leonardo Bonucci, which gave them the upper-hand.

Scene-stealers

Luka Modric was simply consistent. The Real Madrid man showed why he is the real deal when he took a right footed shot and gave Croatia the lead.

The blunders

Norway had a strong chance of beating Italy, but perhaps, they should be more clinical in order to gain the advantage in the upcoming matches and eventually, qualify in the next stage of the competition.

What to expect

The online betting favorite, Italy will continue to unleash a stronger attack. But they should be wary of Croatia since the latter is very much capable of clinching an upset.
