Daniel Sturridge scored twice for Liverpool v Newcastle

Liverpool’s convincing derby win is a major step towards the club’s aim to enter the top three (3), whilst West Brom shall take the chance to get redemption after a narrow derby defeat from Aston Villa.

Match Date: 01 February 2014 (local time)

Venue: The Hawthorns

Team Form

West Bromwich Albion

West Brom’s head honcho, Pepe Mel is determined to “go back to business,” after enduring a narrow defeat to local rivals, Aston Villa and dropping in the Premier League table.

Mel expressed his eagerness to recover from the “wasted” opportunities that the club had during the said match. The Baggies took the early lead in the encounter when Chris Brunt scored on the 4th. An own goal from Villa’s Fabian Delph immediately followed. Unfortunately, Aston Villa was quick to react and immediately scored three (3) consecutive goals to take the lead and eventually win the match. It was West Brom’s second loss in six their last six (6) matches.

The Baggies are currently having problems winning. Recently, they have been contented in their lackluster performance, which, apparently, barely contributes to their success this season. So far, the only thing they can brag is a single victory.

Giving them even more problems is the impending absence of Nicolas Anelka due to a knee injury.

Liverpool

Liverpool will visit the Hawthorns filled with confidence after a successful demolition job against Everton.

Liverpool’s story was a total opposite of West Brom. Its derby against Everton resulted to the latter’s thrashing. The club fired four (4) consecutive goals courtesy of Steven Gerrard, Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez, thus making them an automatic match winner several minutes after the half time. There is a high possibility for these men to once again, feature  during the West Brom clash.

In terms of their overall team form, Liverpool also brags a strong side. They were successful in four (4) of their last six (6) matches and have scored at least two (2) goals in their last eight (8) battles.

However, they have to be wary on their defence as they have been conceding at least 2 goals in their last seven (7) matches.

Online betting’s top pick: Liverpool

Liverpool is quite stuck in the 4th spot of the Premier League table. Expect them to take this opportunity to secure more points and unleash a winning streak in their succeeding matches.
