The capital club will have its first attempt to clinch the season’s silverware when they meet Fiorentina. However, how far will AS Roma go without their trusted defender, Mehdi Benatia?

The contenders

AS Roma

Rudi Garcia’s entry in Italy’s capital club paved way for major improvements and spectacular performances last season. From a so-so squad to a strong title contender, it is not surprising to see them as one of the sports betting favorites to grab this season’s silverware. With the momentum still lingering in their side, it is less likely for AS Roma to settle for a lackluster performance.

Just recently, the squad acquired the signatures of Ashley Cole and Seydou Keita. Their entry is expected to add more depth, considering the fact that they are prominent figures in high profiled clubs. Cole was from Chelsea whilst Keita emerges from Camp Nou.

However, the title race becomes more challenging for Roma since its trusted defender, Mehdi Benatia will be joining the German giants, Bayern Munich.

Fiorentina

Fiorentina will be welcoming the season without Giuseppe Rossi. The trusted striker will have to rest for a while due to a knee injury that has been bugging him for quite some time.

The incident is a major blow to the Violas. The squad aspires for a stronger finish than last season, where they were ranked as the 4th best club across Italy. Nevertheless, many are hoping that Mario Gomez will be in his 100% to perform the scoring duties for the club.

Possible head turners

Konstantino Manolas of Olympiacos is expected to feature in Roma’s first match. Manolas fills the void that Benatia left.
As for Fiorentina’s side, many are looking forward to what Gomez can do for the squad. The former Bayern Munich striker struggled last season due to an injury, but  has already recovered from the said unfortunate event.

Meanwhile, although there have Juan Cuadrado has been strongly linked to Barcelona and Manchester United, no agreements have been made. The Colombian winger is therefore expected  to impress in the upcoming match.

What the odds say

AS Roma is valued to win at 1.77 in the sports betting site, 12BET. Yet, considering the fact that Fiorentina is also a competitive club, going for a 4.63 odds in their favor is also profitable.
