Other than survival issues, Palermo also needs to deal with speculations about the planned sacking of its head honcho, Giuseppe Iachini. Can Palermo turn the odds to their favor? Or will they have a new manager after the Cesena match?

The contenders

Many are expecting a down the wire match between Palermo and Empoli. The newly-promoted squads have seen each other play in the second division, one might think that a severe thrashing is less likely to take place. But it materialized and under such circumstances, it was Palermo, which suffered the most.
Due to their hapless situation, speculations of Iachini’s expulsion began to crop out. However, the club’s President, Maurizio Zamparini expressed his support for their current manager and even stressed that his dealings with Palermo shall continue for 4-5 more years.

Palermo currently lingers at the relegation zone and occupies the 18th spot of the league table.

Cesena did an impressive job in containing the heavy football betting favorite, Udinese in their recent encounter.

Despite struggling for the majority of the 90-minute match, all it took was a penalty and Emmanuel Cascione, eager not to waste the opportunity to equalize, readily converted.

Cesena currently occupies the 13th spot of Italy’s top-flight league and it will more likely show further improvements in their upcoming match.

Possible head turner

Palermo should be wary of the Cascione effect. The latter may pull off another great comeback that might further push Palermo to the rock bottom part of the league table.
