Updated: October 16, 2014

Match Date: 20 October 2014 (local time)

Venue: Stadio Luigi Ferraris

Both Genoa and Empoli are eyeing for a better spot in the top-flight league following their well-deserved victories against their respective opponents.

The contenders

A late goal from Alessandro Matri prevented Genoa from settling to an even steven finish against Parma. It also marked their 2nd victory since the season started.
Although it barely caused a rise in their Serie A rank, it cannot be denied that Genoa has been prolific in creating several scoring opportunities. Matri’s late rally also showcased how clinical the team was in terms of converting.

Due to the said win, Genoa currently occupies the 11th spot of the league table.

Empoli readily manifested the essence of being prolific. The club has successfully thrashed Palermo with 3 massive goals whilst maintaining a clean sheet. On the 4th minute alone, Empoli’s Massimo Maccarone already took the lead, which was eventually followed by Lorenzo Tonelli and finally, Manuel Pucciarelli.

Empoli currently stands at the 12th spot of the Serie A table.

Possible head turner

But of course, Tonelli is one of those player who will most likely to stand out in the upcoming match. But although Empoli is hailed as the online betting favorite, it cannot afford to ignore Genoa’s strength. The latter could readily nail an equalizer or worse, turn the odds in their favor just like what they did to Parma.
