Chievo Verona

Match Date: 28 September 2014 (local time)

Venue: Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi

Unfortunately, Chievo Verona was unable to maintain the momentum it gained from snatching a surprise win against the sports betting favorite, Napoli. For the second time around, the club suffered another bout of defeat when it went against Sampdoria. Apparently, the said loss produced a negative effect to its current rank.

Meanwhile, Empoli shares a similar sentiment to Chievo Verona. The squad had the chance to score its first win in the top-flight league, yet, AC Milan has managed to turn the odds into their favor after forcing an even steven finish.

The contenders

Chievo Verona

Verona scored rather late in its match against Sampdoria. The latter has already scored 2 goals, which automatically secured its victory.

But despite the loss, the Gialloblu should be thankful that their opponent was unable to keep a clean sheet and at the very least, they were able to respond, thanks to Alberto Paloshi’s right footed shot.

Pitted against AC Milan, Empoli had its chance to clinch its first victory in the season, Goals from Lorenzo Tonelli and Manuel Puccciarelli gave them the lead. However, Fernando Torres and Keisuke Honda responded well to the challenge, thus pulling off a draw instead.

The stalemate caused Empoli to drop into the rock bottom part of the Serie A.

Giving them more trouble is the absence of Mirko Valdifiori, who incurred a red card during the AC Milan face-off.

Possible head turners

Empoli should watch out for Paloschi as he is expected to step up for Chievo’s scoring department in their upcoming match.
