Match Date: 19 October 2014 (local time)

Venue: Stadio Sant’Elia

A last minute goal from Hellas Verona prevented Cagliari from securing its second victory this season. The club has already dropped to the rock bottom part of the table due to the said defeat, which left them with no other option but to earn 3 points during their upcoming match against Sampdoria.

The contenders

Slipping down to the 15th spot of the Serie A table is one of the disastrous moments that Cagliari has to endure.

In its match against Hellas Verona, the side showed a high possibility of forcing a scoreless stalemate, but to no avail. Several seconds prior to the final whistle, Verona’s Panagiotis Tachtsidis nailed a winning goal, which readily determined Cagliari’s fate.

The said result was quite unbelievable at first, considering the fact that the team had plenty of scoring opportunities. Unfortunately, the club was not as clinical as that of Hellas Verona, thus, forcing them to settle for a mediocre loss.

The online betting favorite, Sampdoria continues to be strong. Pitted against Atalanta, the club snatched a 1-0 victory, thanks to Manolo Gabbiadini’s clinical conversion of Pedro Obiang’s assist.

With the said victory, La Samp moved to the 3rd spot of the league table. It was also their 3rd consecutive win. The club has also remained undefeated in all of its recent matches.

Possible head turner

Other than Gabbiadini, Okaka is also one of the threats that Cagliari has to face. He showed some aggressiveness during the Atalanta face-off and there is very little possibility for him to slow down.
