Serie A Prediction (05 October 2013 – 06 October 2013) Part 2

Updated: October 2, 2013

Match Preview: Udinese vs. Cagliari

Match Date: 06 October 2013 (local time)

Venue: Stadio Friuli

It is not surprising to see Udinese as heavy favorites of online bookies. Its current form speaks well of its advantage over Cagliari, not to mention the fact that they are playing in their own territory.

In the Serie A table, Udinese and Cagliari are not very far from each other. With both clubs accumulating 7 points and a goal difference of -1, the only thing that separates them is the result of their past performance.

Cagliari sits on the 11th spot. In its last 6 matches, the club has only won once, lost once while the rest of its battles resulted in a draw.

Following them is Udinese, which has won twice, drew once and lost thrice. Apparently, it is the latter’s losses that place them underneath Cagliari. Nevertheless, there are several factors to consider why Udinese gets the upper hand in the upcoming match.

The Verdict: Udinese 2-1 Cagliari

A closer look into the last 6 encounters of the 2 shows Udinese dominating their matches. As a matter of fact, the latter has a history of thrashing Cagliari with 4 goals to nil.  So far, the best result that Cagliari has managed to pull off was a draw.
Likewise, it must be noted that Udinese has won their last 21 home matches. Cagliari, on the other hand, pulled off a draw in its last 4 encounters.

Under this context, there is a high possibility for Udinese to dominate the match. Cagliari can have a late rally, but there is a chance that such rally will only end in a draw.

Match Preview: Napoli vs. Livorno

Match Date: 06 October 2013 (local time)

Venue: Stadio San Paolo

From the Champions League to Serie A, the Partenopei are determined to show their dominance on the pitch as they meet the newly promoted Livorno.

Rafael Benitez is confident that the tiring battle against Arsenal shall not affect their performance during the Livorno encounter. The club’s record remains untainted, except for a disappointing draw against Sassuolo. Other than that, they have emerged victorious in majority of their pitch battles.

On the other hand, intimidation has no place in the Livorno dugout. Unlike other newly promoted clubs, Davide Nicola and his men barely struggle in the ranking. As a matter of fact, the club comfortably occupies Serie A’s 8th spot— a notch higher than AC Milan.

The Verdict: Napoli 2-0 Livorno

Benitez has all the reasons to believe that they will beat Napoli. After all, the upcoming match is not their first encounter. Looking into their last 6 matches, the Partenopei won 5  of it while Livorno has only won once. Moreover, one cannot disregard the fact that Napoli holds the home court advantage. Arsenal may tire them in the Champions League, but in Serie A and in their own ground, for that matter, there is a slim possibility for Napoli to wave the white flag.

Match Preview: Juventus vs. AC Milan

Match Date: 06 October 2013 (local time)

Venue: Juventus Stadium

With AC Milan’s strikers spending their time on the bench, Juventus will seize the opportunity to clinch an easy victory against the Rossoneris.

AC Milan will be missing the presence of Mario Balotelli and Stephan El Shaarawy during the Juventus encounter. Balotelli needs to serve a 3-game ban after a confrontation with the referee during the match against Napoli. El Shaarawy, on the other hand, is nursing a hairline fracture in his foot.

The above-mentioned incidents spell good news to Juve, which is rallying for Serie A’s top spot. With these 2 important players sidelined, this means giving rest to a tired Juve, which, just like the Rossoneris have battles to win in the Champions League.

The Verdict: Juventus 2:1 AC Milan

The last 6 matches of Juve and AC Milan have all ended with the former gaining the upper hand. Although 2 of those encounters ended in a draw, there is a slim chance that the Rossoneris can pull off the same result.

This season saw AC Milan struggled and indeed, they started slow. But whether they can make a strong finish or not, that is what online betting supporters are yet to know.

Match Preview: Lazio vs. Fiorentina

Match Date: 06 October 2013 (local time)

Venue: Stadio Olimpico

Injury stricken Fiorentina faces a hard fought battle when they visit Lazio over the weekend.

The unexpected injuries put a sudden stop to Fiorentina’s strong start this season. First in the list is the new recruit Mario Gomez who is expected to be sidelined for at least 3 months. Just recently, club captain, Manuel Pasqual experienced a lesion that will keep him in the bench for at 2 weeks.

Like Juventus, the said news increases Lazio’s advantage. The club is just a point behind Fiorentina and the upcoming battle is set to improve their ranks in Serie A.

The Verdict:  Lazio 2:1 Fiorentina

Despite the draw against Sassuolo, Lazio averages at least 2 goals in their last 5 matches. With Fiorentina’s core players missing the pitch, there is a high possibility for the club to fire 2 goals or more.

Fiorentina has only won twice in their last 6 encounters with Lazio. Always, it is the latter that gets the edge in the match and with injuries slowing them down, there is a high possibility for Fiorentina to throw in the white towel.
