Serie A Match Preview: Torino vs. Parma

Updated: May 6, 2014

Match Date: 11 May 2014 (local time)

Venue:  Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino

After clinching a major win against Sampdoria, Parma travels to Olimpico Grande Torino in an attempt to secure a coveted spot in the Europa League. But since Torino is also eyeing for the same spot, it is hard to expect a lacklustre performance from both clubs.

Parma’s 2-0 win against Sampdoria did not only keep their hopes for the said tournament, alive, but also acted as a form of redemption after their 3 consecutive winless feats. Prior to the Sampdoria encounter, Parma was initially forced to settle for a stalemate against the struggling Bologna. The effect of the disappointing draw seemed to linger for quite some time in Parma’s camp as they succumbed to consecutive defeats against Inter and another struggling club, Cagliari. Due to these, its qualification for the said tournament was temporarily halted.

On the other hand, Torino’s unprecedented rise can be attributed to its impressive team form. Torino has won 5 of its 6 matches and the only time where they did not have its dose of victory was when Lazio forced a 3-3 draw.

Currently, Torino is seen as the top pick of sports betting sites such as 12BET. Giving them more advantage is the fact that they will be playing in their own territory, where they are the strongest. They have won 4 of its recent home matches and have scored an average of 2 goals whereas Parma seem to struggle in their away clashes.

Should Parma fails to take control of the match, its European ambition will definitely come to an end.
