Serie A Match Preview: Livorno vs. Fiorentina

Updated: May 7, 2014

Match Date: 11 May 2014 (local time)

Venue: Armando Pichi

Fiorentina is at risk of being outranked by Inter as Domenico Berardi’s hat-trick revived Sassuolo’s survival hopes. With the said victory, the club catapulted to the 16th spot of Italy’s top-flight league. The pressure is on now for the Violas. This is despite the fact that their next match is pitted against the relegated Livorno.

While it is true that Fiorentina has managed to keep the match as close as possible Berardi’s hat-trick during the first half is a testament to their lackluster performance and struggling defence. Should they continue such playing style in Armando Pichi, they will open an incredible opportunity for Inter to steal the spotlight against them.

The Violas have no reason to wave the white flag against Livorno. A comparison of their team form clearly shows that they (Fiorentina) are the online betting favorite. They are undefeated in 4 of their last 6 matches, whereas the host can only afford a draw out of its 6 clashes on the pitch.

Livorno may have the home court advantage. However, they have been losing in their last 5 matches and have already conceded an average of 2 goals within the course of their last 8 encounters.

It is also important to note that Livorno has not won a single match against Fiorentina—that is if one has to consider their 6 previous encounters in Serie A.
