Match Date: 19 April 2014 (local time)

Venue: Comunale Luigi Ferraris

Trapped in a fierce survival battle, a defeated Genoa faces an inspired Cagliari in a match that will determine their fate this season.
Genoa’s head honcho, Gian Piero Gasperini will be looking for redemption at home as his side bowed down to Torino. Unable to keep its lead, Torino took advantage of injury time and clinched a victory, much to the surprise of many.

The Rossoblus’ recent defeat was crucial. Not only did it let go of the opportunity to veer away from the relegation zone, it was also its 3rd consecutive loss during its last 6 matches. Likewise, Genoa’s defence is also in trouble. In the 3 matches where they were defeated, the club witnessed more than 2.5 goals. This readily translates to conceding more goals than converting.

On the other hand, Ivo Pulga’s arrival in Cagliari generated positive impact in the club’s performance.

Just recently, Cagliari forced an even steven finish against Sassuolo. The result earned them a crucial point that could possibly salvage them from slipping into the relegation zone.

Cagliari currently occupies the 15th spot of Serie A’s table. But for how long can they keep such momentum? As they visit Genoa, Cagliari will have to deal with its lackluster away performance. The club lost 22 of its away matches and unless they man on the pitch, they remain a relegation candidate.

Genoa and Cagliari both shares a similar form. The clubs have won once, drew once and lost 4 of its previous matches. However, Genoa’s better rank and home court advantage gives them opportunity to counter Cagliari’s attacks and names them as the match’s football betting favorite.
