Sports betting site’s top pick, Real Madrid hope to clinch their 10th Champions League title this season. However, to do that, they need to face Schalke’s fury first, which currently enjoy the momentum of their successful feats.

Match Date: 26 February 2014 (local time)
Venue: Veltins Arena

Team Form

Schalke 04

An unstable start and a couple of injury issues almost halted the Royal Blues from advancing to the next stage of the Champions League. However, the German outfit showcased a spectacular display of resilience, which blew the minds both of its supporters and critics.

Schalke finished second in their group. They trail Chelsea by two (2) points and almost lost hope  in qualifying to the Round of 16 when Steaua Bucuresti forced them to a scoreless stalemate, But perhaps the Royal Blues are readily destined to be on top for when they met Basel, they secured their qualification via imposing a 2-0 victory.

Crucial to the club’s success was the experience of Kevin Prince Boateng. The former AC Milan player is a familiar face in the competition and his experience helped the club to stay away from being eliminated. Also instrumental to their success is Julian Draxler and Max Meyer, who have readily shown maturity during the tournament’s initial stages. Through their efforts, they have successfully compensated for the absence of the talisman Klaas Jan Huntelaar, who was injured.

Subsequent improvements were also evident in Schalke 04’s domestic performances. After almost slipping to the rock bottom part of the table, the club has once again, established itself as one of Germany’s giant clubs via scoring more points and entering the league’s top five (5).

Real Madrid

It has been more than a decade since the Los Blancos have earned their 9th Champions League silverware and with such a long wait, one can only expect Real Madrid to be fiercer than ever as they try to clinch that elusive 10th trophy.

Real Madrid did not only finish on top of its group during the Round of 16, they made it even more impressive for securing an undefeated record in its six (6) matches, winning over FC Copenhagen, Galatasaray and settling for a draw against Juventus.

In the domestic league, Real Madrid is also one of the greatest forces to grace the La Liga. They are currently tied with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid on the top spot of the table. Expect Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale to feature in the said match.

Prediction:  Real Madrid

Real Madrid can be easily labeled as the match’s online betting favorite. However, with Schalke, which has already regained its momentum, it looks like the Los Blancos shall have a hard time dealing with the Royal Blues.
