Team Form

Schalke 04

Continuing their undefeated streak this season, the Royal Blues showed their royal form when they secured their 4th consecutive victory. But it was far from being an ordinary win for they are pitted against the equally aggressive, Bayer Leverkusen.

Leon Goretzka sealed the club’s early lead. Unfortunately, an own goal from Felipe Santana gave birth to the equalizer. It was not until the returning Klaas- Jan Huntelaar netted a goal on the 74th, that Schalke was able to clinch the victory,

The Royal Blues currently maintain a close to perfect form. They were undefeated in five (5) of their last six (6) matches. The only encounter, which (tainted) their record was the scoreless stalemate against Nurnberg. Yet, overall, the club’s performance has been superb. This is most especially true in terms of their home performance. They have scored an average of two (2) goals in their last five (5) matches and this makes them a strong force to reckon with.

Mainz 05

Die Nullfünfer just moved an inch closer to their European dream after scoring a 2-0 victory against Hannover 96. Currently, the club is just a point short of qualifying to the Europa League.

Amidst the down the wire match against Hannover 96, two heroes emerged and these were Yunus Malli and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.  These two are expected to feature during the match against Schalke 04.

Die Nullfünfer shall meet the Royal Blues with an impressive form. They have been successful in four (4) of their last 6 matches. Like Schalke, they also had their share of a scoreless stalemate. But it was against another strong club, Borussia Monchengladbach. Although they lost to Wolfsburg, they remain as one of the league’s top performing clubs.

Prediction:  Schalke 04

Considered as one of Bundesliga’s elites, it will be hard for Schalke to throw the white towel easily. It is impossible to see the Royal Blues surrender their right to be one of the Champions League regulars.
