Reims vs. Paris Saint Germain Preview (Week 14): PSG Unwilling To Surrender The Top Spot

Updated: November 19, 2013

With Zlatan Ibrahimovic playing like there is no tomorrow, Reims’ goal of beating Paris Saint Germain proved to be a far-fetched dream.

Match Date: 23 November 2013 (local time)

Venue: Stade Auguste Delaune II

Team Form

Stade de Reims

Reims have been satisfactory in terms of their recent performance. With just a single loss in their last 6 matches, they have managed to retain a stable spot in Ligue 1’s table.

Reims currently occupies the 6th spot of the table and have a high possibility of improving even more. However, the club should be wary of their performance at home. In their last 6 matches, the club has only won twice. Three (3) of them ended in draws, while the other one saw them suffered a disappointing defeat.
While it is true that stalemates, still, add extra points, these are barely enough to compete with other clubs, which gain three (3) added points in their scoreboard.

Paris Saint Germain

Paris Saint Germain just strengthened its grip of the first spot after thrashing Nice with a 3-1 victory courtesy of the mighty Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Ibra scored a hat trick, which sealed the fate of their opponents.

PSG have been in a tip-top shape. They started slow, but as they progressed, they have created a buffer that will protect their lead against possible title contenders such as Lille and AS Monaco. To note, they are undefeated in their last 6 matches.

Pitted against Reims, they stand as the heavy favorite and perhaps, it is obvious why. They have been undefeated in 24 of their last matches. In 6 of them, they average on 2 goals apiece. Although, they share an equal number of wins with Reims—that is of their previous encounters are to be considered, this barely decreases the possibility of securing a victory.

Perhaps if there is one thing that PSG should be worried about or say, for the better term, if there is one thing that the club should be readily concerned, this is the wish that both Ibra and Edinson Cavani return in one piece from their international duties. Both strikers are out to support their international squads in their World Cup qualifying bid.

Football betting tip: Stade de Reims 1-2 Paris Saint Germain
