Newly promoted Elche shall have its first taste of Spain’s top-flight league as they battle against 8th placer, Rayo Vallecano this 18 August 2013. Is the club’s experience enough to secure their first victory? Or will they prove sports betting wrong?

The 24-year wait for the Los Franjiverdes has finally ended. After being promoted, the club is eager to prove their worth in the pitch. Just recently, it signed the Barça defender David Rodriguéz Lombán to strengthen its flank. Lombán’s experience proves to be instrumental to the squad.

Indeed, it was a smart move for Elche. However, Franjirrojos’ resume cannot be totally disregarded. It secured the 8th spot last season and was close to qualifying for the Europa League. Moreover, it has also acquired the services of the Argentine defender, Leonel Galeano to intensify their campaign this season. Despite of a lackluster performance during the friendlies, it cannot be denied that this club is not the one, which easily throws the white towel.

Perhaps Elche’s past triumph is enough to motivate the team. Yet, whether, they can last or not, still, this is something that they have to manifest. If there is one thing that will possibly make their lives easier or turn the odds into their favor, this is Piti’s absence. The club’s top scorer has already left. The club struggles with debt and prevents them from participating into the Europa League competition.

Rayo Vallecano may be having some problems in stabilizing their current form. But it does not mean that it will easily crumble and it can very much give Elche its unforgettable baptism of fire in the pitch.
