West Ham United v Southampton - Premier League

Match Date: 13 September 2014 (local time)

Venue: St. Mary’s Stadium

Also one of the squads, which had a slow start in the season, Southampton has finally awakened from its deep slumber. The Saints grabbed its first win and is eager to continue what it started against a struggling Newcastle United.

The contenders

Southampton

It looks like Southampton has already adjusted from the massive exodus that transpired among its key members this summer.

After a not so good start in which they lost to Liverpool, held to a draw by West Bromwich Albion; the Saints were able to snatch its first win in an impressive fashion.

Several minutes before the end of the first half, a strong-willed Morgan Schneiderlin scored the equalizer on the 45th and on the 68th; he gave Southampton the lead. However, Schneiderlin was not the only player eager to score in the said match, a persistent Graziano Pelle also found his way to the net and secured the much needed victory.

Newcastle United

Newcastle United lost the opportunity to grab its first 3 points in the season when a resilient Crystal Palace fought with all might to ensure an even steven finish.

Simply put, the above-mentioned result was plain disappointing.  Conceding a goal to Crystal Palace as the match’s approached its dying minutes was plain, illogical and unacceptable considering the fact that it had the lead.

Due to this, Newcastle United is still on the winless zone and on the verge of hitting the relegation zone early in the season.

Possible head turners

With Schneiderlin around, Southampton’s chances of winning is high. As a matter of fact, it is the match’s online betting favorite.

Other than Schneiderlin, former AS Monaco striker, Emmanuel Riviere is also expected to feature in the said match. The latter needs to feature in order to keep his place in the starting XI.

What the odds say

But of course, Southampton gets a more lucrative odd than Newcastle United. The latter is valued to win at 1.88, whereas Newcastle gets 4.00.
