Premier League Preview: Everton vs. Arsenal

Updated: August 19, 2014

Match Date: 23 August 2014 (local time)

Venue: Goodison Park

After a strong start during the season’s opening, Arsenal’s Champions League obligations tend to interfere with the squad’s title campaign. How will they thrive amidst their hectic match schedule?

The contenders

For the meantime, Everton had to be content with the sole point that they incurred during the clash against the newly-promoted squad, Leicester City. The latter pulled off a last minute rally to score the equalizer and indeed, they succeeded.
As for Everton, the result readily reflected the quality of its defence. Considering the fact that their squad is comprised of more experienced players, the stalemate was a result that nobody saw coming.

But in their upcoming match, Everton can capitalize on Arsenal’s hectic schedule. The latter is set to play against the Turkish outfit, Besiktas to qualify for the Champions League.

The Gunners just stole the show against a resilient Crystal Palace when Aaron Ramsey netted the last minute goal. Frankly speaking, it was an easy victory. However, Wenger and his men cannot afford to have an early celebration. Indeed, they won the match, but their Champions League obligation can prevent them from having the focus that they need when they face Everton. In as much as they cannot afford to lose to Besiktas, they also cannot afford to lose the precious points against the Toffees.

The current title race is characterized by a high degree of difficulty. Arsenal rivals, which also happened to be title contenders have readily invested in the transfer market to form a stronger force. Should Arsenal falter, slightest slip may cause it to have an early exit in the title quest.

Possible head turners

Apparently, Aaron Ramsey is expected to do wonders for Arsenal. Many are also waiting for the entry of Mesut Ozil after a successful feat in the recently concluded World Cup.

What the odds say

Online sports betting sites eye for Arsenal as the predicted winner of the match, with odds valued at  2.45. There is also the possibility of a draw and such result is pegged at profitable odds of 3.25.
