Match Date: 13 September 2014 (local time)

Venue: Selhurst Park

Crystal Palace and Burnley are on a tight race of getting out of the relegation zone. The hunger to secure their first win is akin to a nerve-ending itch that needed to be addressed immediately. The competition is getting more difficult every week and the weak are less likely to survive the current season.

The contenders

Crystal Palace

The wind beneath the Eagles’ wings has already left Selhurst Park and it is hard to deny that Tony Pulis’ departure has readily affected the club’s performance.

Crystal Palace seemed to lack the grit and aggressiveness that once threatened the league’s powerhouses—the grit that prevented Liverpool from winning the title. Indeed, the squad’s wings are broken and it seemed that neither the return of Wilfried Zaha and Neil Warnock can salvage the squad.

Indeed, it may be too early to say that they will soon hit the relegation, but the inability to score a win in its first 3 matches brings back memories of their lackluster start under Ian Holloway last season.

Burnley

Burnley’s draw against Manchester United may not be the best result that it can come up with. Nevertheless, the squad made a strong statement—that with a little tweak in the strategy, it can cause bitter upsets against Premier League powerhouses.

As mentioned, Burnley has not won a single match. But in as far as the result of its previous match was concerned, the stalemate can be a good inspirational source that would bring more success to the club.

Possible head turners

Moving to Crystal Palace on a loan is a good opportunity that Zaha must exploit. Now that he is getting more playing time in the squad, he should be able to help the club get out of the dreaded zone, just like what he did when he pioneered Crystal Palace’s promotion.

What the odds say

Crystal Palace is the apparent favorite of football betting tips. The club is valued to win at 2.19 in 12BET.
