Manchester City’s title defence is on the rocks as it experienced its first taste of defeat for this season. The squad endured a narrow loss to Stoke City and hoped to recover soon when it faces Arsenal.

Speaking of Arsenal, the Gunners are having a slow start this season. After winning over Crystal Palace, the club has been forced to settle for a stalemate in 2 of its most recent matches.

The contenders

Arsenal dominated possession during its encounter against the newly-promoted Leicester. And indeed, such dominance was reflected when Alexis Sanchez scored on the 20th.

Unfortunately, the Gunners were unable to protect their lead as 2 minutes after Sanchez took the lead, Leonardo Ulloa immediately responded with a header.

Despite the stalemate, defender Per Mertesacker stressed that he is satisfied with the squad’s performance considering the fact that they went through a nerve-wracking Champions League qualification against Besiktas.

Manchester City

Defending champion, Manchester City was readily punished by Stoke. The former was successful in keeping the ball to their side, but it was Stoke, which took advantage of the scoring opportunities that came along its way.

Defeats during the initial stage of the season are common. But for City, which is currently on a strong campaign to defend its title, the recent loss is a crucial ones. This is most especially true that title rivals, Chelsea has managed to keep a clean slate and occupy the table’s top spot.

Possible head turners

Former Manchester United striker, Danny Welbeck will be wearing the Arsenal jersey soon and his entry is expected to bolster the Gunners’ attacking department.

What the odds say

Online betting odds heavily favor the visitors, Manchester City. The latter is valued to win at 2.26. But going for Arsenal, which is valued at 3.15 is also a profitable bet.
