Premier League Match Preview: Swansea City vs. Sunderland

Updated: October 7, 2013

Match Date: 19 October 2013 (local)

Match Venue: Liberty Stadium, Swansea City

Coach Michael Laudrup was devastated after his team suffered a consecutive defeat in their most recent match. Swansea was thrashed 0-2 by Southampton at the St. Mary’s Stadium, causing the manager to regret over his side’s poor finishing despite having more than a dozen attempts at goal. The loss is The Jacks’ fourth upset this season, following equally poor finishes in their two opening matches. The side’s best performances were in their third and fifth tourneys, whereby they obtained clean sheets from West Bromwich and Crystal Palace and scored two goals from each of the pitch wars. In addition, the side’s success transcends outside the British borders. Swansea won over St. Gallen 1-0 in the Europa League, thus widening their dominance in Group A.

Poorly prepared and lacking in substantial spiritedness, Sunderland have created a disastrous run in the Premier League new season. The Black Cats are yet to secure a win, making them the only club in the league to not win in any competition, thus far. Scoring only five goals and conceding a heart-wrenching 16, the bottom-table squad apparently need some serious reforms. Substitute coach Kevin Ball is not making any far difference from recently fired Paulo Di Canio, after failing to hold the players together and deliver any improvements.

Football betting tip: With a form deeply disappointing and facing opponents who are obviously ahead of them by some miles, Sunderland have little chance of ending their terrible run. This match will finish in a 2-0 final tally, in favor of Swansea.
