Manchester City v Manchester United - Premier League

Match Date: 25 March 2014 (local time)

Venue: Old Trafford

Manchester United’s renewed confidence shall be put to the test once again as they are set to meet title contender, Manchester City without their Champions League hero, Robin Van Persie.

Van Persie took charge of the Red Devil’s stunning victory against Olympiakos when he scored a hat trick that helped them turned the odds into their favor.  Unfortunately, a “sprained knee” will keep him out of the pitch for 4-6 weeks.

The said event is definitely a big blow to David Moyes and the whole squad as this might hamper their attack. But it seemed that the situation is a blessing in disguise. Necessity as they say is the mother of all inventions and as for this case, Van Persie’s injury and the vulnerability of their attacking plan, unleashed the creative genius in Moyes, who found the perfect antidote in the hands of “The Three Musketeers: Juan Mata, Shinji Kagawa and Wayne Rooney.”

And indeed, against West Ham United, the three musketeers delivered. The triad that is comprised of 2 respectable playmakers, Mata and Kagawa and the presence of a deadly finisher, Rooney, witnessed the Red Devils nailed 2 goals at the onset of the match,

But West Ham is not Manchester City. This is not to dishonor the former. Instead, this is meant to emphasize that Manchester United’s true battle lies in their Manchester derby performance.

Manchester City trails Chelsea by 6 points in the title race. Technically speaking, it remains a tough contender for the Premier League silverware. Even Jose Mourinho considers the club as the heavy favorite that all clubs should be wary of. It simply waits for the right timing. And if such timing comes into place, they will take everything and spare nothing.

Against Manchester United, Manuel Pellegrini might capitalize on their defensive assaults. Four (4) of their last matches, including Fulham’s 5-0 thrashing witnessed a clean sheet and there is a high possibility that they will do the same. Yet, what makes City an even more frightening opponent was the fact that it has scored an average of 2 goals against the Red Devil in 6 of their last 7 matches. Such record also explains why betting on a total goal of 2-3 at 2.00 is a profitable pick at sports betting sites.

As mentioned, City will take everything once they see the opportunity to do so and this should keep Moyes and his men on their toes.

Apparently, the “Three Musketeers” are doing well. But doing well and being consistent in doing well. Such will make the difference in the defending champion’s fate.

Prediction: Manchester City
