Premier League Match Preview: Aston Villa vs. Tottenham Hotspur

Updated: October 8, 2013

Match Date: 20 October 2013 (local)

Match Venue:  Villa Park, Witton, Birmingham

Aston Villa

With three players—N’Zogbia, Gardner, and Okore—sidelined, Aston Villa will face an uphill battle in the pitch. Their league form is too perplexing to be considered “safe,” with an equal number of victories and defeats parading in their streak, and just one draw to make any difference. While making odd goals is a specialty for Villa, being clinical in other departments is not a viable thing for them. Thus far, the side have already scored nine goals in seven matches, but only one of those will be left in a positive note if their goals conceded (eight) will be taken into account. A total of 10 points crown Villa’s record, enough for them to secure the league table’s 10th spot.

Tottenham Hotspur

Glorious results haloed Tottenham Hotspur in the League Cup and Europa League, but the players may have been too complacent with these successes that they settled on ill fate in their most recent Premier League fixture. The side were defeated by West Ham United in a lousy 0-3 finish, leading them to a slight plummeting in the league table.  Nevertheless, Spurs are expected to regain traction in their future tourneys. André Villas-Boas’ men do not have any sizable injury problems, which means that they could potentially pull off good points in their subsequent battles. The healthy troupe also flaunt commendable record when playing as visitors, winning six of the last seven away matches they had in all competitions.

Football betting tip: Spurs are apparently a major challenge for Villa. Their last 10 meetings saw the visitors win the majority of the clashes; while the home side’s best result only reached a deadlock. Just recently, in the League Cup, Villa were painfully pounded by Spurs in a 0-4 finish. The same doom awaits Villa when they face Spurs anew in the UK’s top-tier football.
