Parma vs. Torino Preview: Torino Must Keep Cerci To Maintain Good Standing

Updated: January 3, 2014

Torino’s current form and performance promises a bright future. It makes them a sports gambling favorite in their match against Parma. However, Torino has a major concern to attend to and that is keeping Manchester United’s target, Alessio Cerci, under its wing.

Parma ended the year with a draw against Sampdoria. It was their 5th out of their last six (6) matches. Currently, the so-so performance is acceptable, but, still short of being impressive. Parma cannot be content with an even steven finish as this could only bring them minimal points and if not addressed, soon this could be their waterloo,

Gialloblu’s defence has worked well for them. This has been their potent antidote in experiencing a major slip in the table. But defence alone, being contented with parking the bus, will not suffice. Just like any other clubs in Serie A, Parma needs to score. They need someone to convert those opportunities, or they might end up in a stagnant ditch.

Yet, it seemed like Parma’s scoring issue may not be resolved immediately. Marco Parolo, who contributed six (6) goals (one of the highest) during his Parma appearances, is set to move to Roma. It appears that looking for a reliable replacement will create more troubles for the club. But until the transfer rumors have been confirmed, the team is better off formulating strategies amidst Parolo’s impending exit.

Giampiero Ventura’s decision to settle for a 3-5-2 formation has significantly improved Torino’s performance on the pitch. After struggling during the early stage of the season, the club is now enduring a more secure and stable spot in the table.

Currently, Torino ranks 7th in Serie A. Their previous matches highlight well-deserved victories against equally aggressive clubs like Lazio and Udinese. Likewise, it is worthy to mention that the club has been undefeated in three (3) of their recent matches.

But the changed formation did more than improve the club’s rank. It has also tapped the champion footballer in Alessio Cerci, who is now a major target of Manchester United. Given this aspect at hand, Torino is now beset with the burden of keeping the talent away from the bright lights of Old Trafford. However, in the event where Cerci refuses to leave the squad, there is a high possibility for Ventura to make a strong finish this season.

Football betting tip: Torino

Expect a down the wire match between Torino and Parma. Parma’s defensive tactics will try to keep Torino at bay. But the balanced and consistent Torino will try to outlast every dose of Parma’s attacks.
