A certified favorite of online bookies, Manchester United shall travel to Karaiskaki Stadium to prove that they are one of the competition’s top contenders. Powered by their extensive experience, the club eye for victory that will readily help them advance to the quarter-finals.

Match Date: 25 February 2014 (local time)

Venue: Karaiskaki Stadium

Team Form

After four (4) long years of patiently waiting, Michel and his men will head to Round 16 of the Champions League. The club is keen on pulling an upset against the veteran Manchester United and advance to the tournament’s quarter-finals.

Olympiacos can be readily considered as one of the tournament’s dark horses. Despite the defeat to Paris Saint Germain, they were able to emerge as runner-up after an impressive performance against Anderlecht and Benfica.

In terms of their current team form, the club enjoys an unbeaten run in the Greek Super League, It is therefore, not surprising to see them dominate the said league.

On the other hand, Olympiacos will be missing the contributions of Konstatinos Mitroglou after transferring to Fulham this January. Mitroglou is the first player to score a hat-trick in the competition.

Manchester United

A familiar face in the tournament, Manchester United is one of the favorites to win. However, the biggest question that they need to answer is whether they have enough strength to advance in the next stage.

The Red Devils have managed to dominate their group despite their lackluster performance in the English Premier League. They were unbeaten, but they had to deal with the stalemates forced by Shakthar Donetsk and Real Sociedad. Compared to Olympiacos, it is evident that they have the experience to make it to the quarter-finals,

Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie and the creative playmaker, Juan  Mata are expected to feature in the  match.

Manchester United currently experience a spell of inconsistent performances in the Premier League. Trailing Chelsea by fifteen (15) points, it seemed that the club shall have a hard time defending their title. But hopefully, they can pull off an impressive pitch display when they visit the Greek camp.

Prediction:  Manchester United

This season may not be the best for the Red Devils, however, their experience shall help them overcome the pressure and challenge present in this tournament.
