AS Monaco will try to level or overcome Paris Saint Germaine in this season’s title race and meeting the minnows, Montpellier is the perfect way to do it. Nevertheless, football betting tips  barely expect an easy win as Montpellier is also keen on overcoming the relegation threat.

Montpellier

Rolland Courbis was probably right when he stressed that his entry does not ensure Montpellier’s survival in Ligue 1. Contrary to the grandeur and stature that it once held, the former French league champion is currently a spot away from the relegation zone. Life becomes even harder for the club as they will need to overcome the fury of AS Monaco, which is considered as one of the strongest candidates for this season’s title race.

Montpellier’s lackluster performance is evident. They were defeated in ten (10) of their last encounters in the league and so far, the only thing, which keeps them from hitting the rock bottom part of the table, is an even steven finish with some of its opponents.

Another issue, which seems to hit the club’s morale, is the “impending transfer of Remy Cabella. It is said that Newcastle United has been keeping tabs on him. The latter is also said to be willing to be a big spender in order to secure his signature.

AS Monaco

Visiting Montpellier barely threatens AS Monaco. They have been successful in their last three (3) away matches and this gives them confidence in beating Montpellier. So far, they have managed to keep the pressure to Paris Saint Germain. Trailing by three (3) points, they only need a single win to tie with the incumbent champion. But they have to be very careful.

The need for AS Monaco’s non-complacent attitude can be traced to the fact that PSG almost scored a big lead if not for the even steven finish that they had against Lille. It could have been harder for them (Monaco) to catch-up since they lost to Valenciennes. Fortunately, the stars continue to favor them. In the event where PSG won their last game of the season’s first half, well, this could have removed Monaco’s name in the title race.

Football betting tip: AS Monaco

Definitely, Monaco has the upper hand in the match. After keeping a clean sheet against Nice, Ajaccio and Guingamp, it is hard to imagine them losing to Montpellier. However, they cannot assume an easy win as their recent match against Valenciennes and recently, Vannes saw them struggled. Moreover, they should expect Montpellier to force a down the wire match in order to salvage themselves from a possible relegation.
