Manchester United vs. Stoke: Moyes,  Desperate To End Man Utd’s Slow Start

Match Date: 26 October 2013 (local time)

Venue: Old Trafford

Worried that his club’s slow start has been taking longer than what is expected, David Moyes is keen on redeeming themselves after a discouraging stalemate against Southampton.

Team Form

Manchester United

Frustrations, upset and disappointments loom over Old Trafford when the Red Devils had to settle for a draw against the Saints.

With a little over a minute left before the final whistle, Adam Lallana’s last equalizer spoiled Manchester United’s last ounce of hope for gaining a victory. Although, a draw, still meant an extra point for the club, this is barely enough to strengthen their title campaign and defence this season. The lackluster performance left the club on the 8th spot with 3 wins, 3 losses and 2 draws.

Given how things go for the Red Devils in the  domestic league, plus the struggle that they had to go through in the Champions League, David Moyes cannot help but express his displeasure with their “lack of momentum.” Their most recent encounter, for example, readily manifested the club’s appetite loss for victory. They had the lead when Robin Van Persie made the shot on the 26th.  Yet, as mentioned, Lallana, still, has managed to force a draw during the match’s dying minutes.

Two (2) reasons are attributed to the club’s decline. One of these is the inconsistencies of its midfield. Gary Neville pointed out that this opened opportunities for other clubs to put their attacking tactics to the test and indeed, they emerged triumphant.

Meanwhile, others think that the absence of former manager, Sir Alex Ferguson’s “fear factor,” is one of the reasons behind the club’s losing force on the pitch. Moyes, on the other hand, denies such allegations.

Mark Hughes continues to maintain a positive stance despite the scoreless draw against West Bromwich Albion.

Hughes openly expressed his contentment after their most recent match ended in a stalemate. However, the club’s head honcho was also very vocal in praising Asmir Begovic’s impressive moves, which prohibited their opponents from scoring.

Despite the skirmish to avoid the relegation zone, the atmosphere in Stoke breeds an ounce of confidence. Given how Manchester United has played so far, it is no longer questionable why Hughes remain seemingly calm when they face the Red Devils.

Football betting tip: Manchester United 2-0 Stoke

There is no doubt that Manchester United, still, keeps the upper hand against Stoke. The latter has been experiencing difficulty in their away matches and with the battle set to happen in Old Trafford, perhaps, this is the victory that David Moyes and his squad, has been waiting for. A clear evidence of this (anticipated) win is the fact that Stoke lost 29 of his 32 matches and its inability to score in 8 of their encounters away from home.

However, Moyes cannot be too overconfident as the clash against Stoke might also end up in a draw or another heartbreaking defeat.

Liverpool vs. West Bromwich Albion:  A Tale Of Consistencies

Match Date: 26 October 2013 (local time)

Venue: Anfield

Liverpool and West Bromwich Albion have been showing their different interpretation of consistency. Which side has a better interpretation? Which side shall emerge as the victorious one?

Team Form

A come from behind draw against Newcastle United pushes Liverpool to be more consistent in their performance.

The Reds almost lost the match if not for Steven Gerrard’s converted penalty and Daniel Sturridge’s late rally. Such scenario never fails to bring concern to Liverpool, which is considered as one of the season’s top title contenders. The draw was acceptable to a certain extent. It kept the club on the top spot of the table. However, it cannot be denied that the struggle that they had to go through to chase that stalemate, was a bit disappointing.

Perhaps, it is for this reason that midfielder, Jordan Henderson opened the need for having a consistent performance. The season is far from being over. As with any title campaign, getting on top is a lot easier. Yet, remaining on top is another issue. Basically, this is the dilemma that Liverpool goes through and unless they pitch in that consistency into their system, every club. regardless of their form and caliber, will remain as a strong threat.

West Browmich Albion

Unlike, Liverpool, the Potters seem to have that consistency in their matches. For the second time around, West Bromwich Albion had to settle for a draw when they went against Stoke.

A 2-consecutive draw immediately followed Steve Clarke’s 2 consecutive wins and heaven may forbid that they trampled in a 2 consecutive defeat. The club had scoring opportunities against Stoke, but at the end of the day, Asmir Begovic simply denied and spoiled all of their attempts.

The result found the Potters on the 12th spot of the league, with draw results dominating the majority of their performance during their last 8 appearances. The 2 of them ended in a victory, while the rest of the remaining 2 resulted in 2 remaining losses.

Football betting tip: Liverpool 2-1 West Bromwich Albion

Liverpool’s strength at home gives them outright advanvtage over West Bromwich Albion. However, the latter exhibits possibilities of scoring from a late rally. The Potters, under this context and situation must redefine their idea of “consistency, “ in this match. So far, the latter formed a pattern of alternating 2 successive wins and 2 successive draws. Apparently, this approach shall not work against Liverpool, which is keen on competing for a silverware this season.
