Ligue 1: Bastia vs. Marseille

Ligue 1 has a bottomless supply of impressive pitch spectacles. On September 20, such a claim will again be proven true when French superpowers Marseille and Bastia meet at the Stade Armand Césari for their first duel this season.

Marseille’s current league form is telling a magnificent story. They kicked off their campaign with three innings to crown their record, knocking down Guingamp on a two-goal lead. This was followed by two more successes, a defeat in their fourth tourney, and a draw in their most recent match. Bastia, meanwhile, seem to be traveling different directions. While they have won in two tourneys, they have also been unlucky in another two. A draw in their last bout sealed their five-match streak.

Of the last five matches they had with Marseille, Bastia have only won once; all the four most recent tourneys were under the control of Les Phocéens. In addition, current standings also indicate Marseille to be the superior side, who are ahead of their rivals by six places.

Football betting tip: Marseille will emerge winners

Serie A: Roma vs. Lazio

Of all types of matches, derbies are often the most interesting. Such a clash will make its presence in Serie A on September 21, when two of Rome’s most competitive clubs make their first meeting in the new season of the Italian top-flight league.

AS Roma and SS Lazio are both currently ranked in the table’s upper half, with the former occupying the second spot and the latter seated at number seven. Roma have already earned nine points out of three matches while Lazio secured six points overall.

Roma’s three-match streak has so far been very strong, winning all tourneys with substantial leads against their opponents. Their curtain raiser gave birth to a 2-0 win over Livorno, followed by a 3-0 success against Verona, and sealed by a 3-1 success from Parma. Lazio, meanwhile, had won all their battles but one. Their debut appearance and most recent match saw Udinese and Chievo leaving the pitch broken-hearted. In between these duels, however, was a painful 1-4 defeat that Lazio inevitably incurred from a powerful slamming by Juventus.

Football betting tip: Current statistics may tell Roma to be the dominant side, but Lazio have historically (as per last five matches) been more successful than their rivals. Hence, this match will largely finish in a thrilling deadlock.

La Liga: Espanyol vs. Athletic Bilbao

On September 23, Spanish football giants, Athletic Bilbao and Espanyol, will be unlocking their first clash in the La Liga new season. The current fifth and sixth placers are only separated by one crucial point and a win in this match will definitely prove to be a key factor.

As of fourth week in the Spanish top-flight league, Espanyol remain undefeated. They started their campaign with a set of breathtaking stunts at the Estadi Cornellà-El Prat, where equally fierce rivals Celta de Vigo also showed magnificent drills. The match was so close that it ended in a draw. Periquitos’ second appearance gave them their first victory in the season, thrashing Valencia in an incredible 3-1 finish. A 0-0 draw in their match with Real Betis and a 0-1 victory over Granada sealed the streak.

Athletic Bilbao’s victorious 2-1 opener against Real Valladolid gave them a good start. A 2-0 victory in their second stint (against Osasuna) further gave them strong presence in La Liga. While they lost their battle in their third appearance to Real Madrid 1-3, they were able to make a comeback in their fourth tourney via a 3-2 win over Celta de Vigo.

Football betting tip: While both sides are eagerly excited to add another victory to their record, Espanyol and Athletic Bilbao will have to hold their horses a little tighter and longer because this round will result in a draw.
