Tottenham Hotspur vs. Newcastle United Preview

Match Date: 10 November 2013 (local time)

Venue: White Hart Lane

Team Form

Tottenham Hotspur

The Spurs have been receiving quite a number of criticisms when manager Andreas Villas Boas decided to keep Hugo Lloris on the pitch after Romel Lukaku’s knee accidentally hit the goalkeepers’ head. Yet amidst this hot controversy, one cannot simply overlook the fact that the Spurs move a notch higher in the Premier League table.

The draw against Everton may not be enough to catapult them to the top three. Nevertheless, they are getting closer. Sitting comfortably in the 4th spot, the club has already accumulated 20 points and is tied with other high caliber squads like Chelsea and Liverpool. It was only a matter of goal difference, which separates the three.

Tottenham has kept a clean sheet in 5 of their last 7 matches and will most likely to do the same when they meet Newcastle United. They are playing in their own territory and they are more likely to present a stronger defence wall. But they have to work on their scoring.

Other than LLoris’ issue, the club’s scoring has been under fire as well. Roberto Soldado is at the center of this dilemma as many are waiting for him to unleash his full magic on the pitch. Such question gained attention as many are also concern on Tottenham’s ability to gain the title. Though such matter has its bearing, perhaps what is more important as of the moment is for the Spurs to score more wins. The title race is just around the corner and it is always open to all the clubs. But in order to score the coveted silverware, it is the number of victories that matters first more than the number of goals.

Newcastle United

Redemption has finally arrived in Alan Pardew’s camp when they kept Chelsea at bay after what Pardew described as a “sickening loss” against the relegation zone regular, Sunderland.

Newcastle United’s victory caused a little bit of chaos in the elite arena of the Premier League. It prevented Chelsea from closing the gap against board leader, Arsenal and made Jose Mourinho conclude that he has not found his “best team” yet.

It took quite a few matches before the Magpies returned to its best form. Their last 6 matches saw them endure a beating from Everton, Hull and Sunderland. The match against Liverpool resulted in a stalemate and long before they know it, they already fell to the 10th spot. Yet, the win against Chelsea gave them the opportunity to climb a notch higher.
Sporting a W4-D2-L4 record, once again, the Magpies will try to trample another strong club (Tottenham).  There are concerns on whether Cheik Tiote can make it to the pitch as his clash with Eden Hazard made him limp. Fortunately, there is no serious injury to prevent the player from visiting and playing in the White Hart Lane. Newcastle United has been scoring at least 2 goals in 6 of its last 7 matches and should they continue such form against Tottenham, it is impossible for them not to gain the upper hand in the match.

Football betting tip: Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 Newcastle United

Spurs strikers might have presented a lackluster performance lately. But then again, the club as a whole has never forgotten their scoring duties (as shown in the number of matches that they have won. Due to this, it does not come as too much of a surprise if they stand as the encounter’s heavy favorite. On the other hand, expect Newcastle United to score. Yet, it is still uncertain if they can keep the momentum that they had when they won over Chelsea. Under this context, going for a 2.310 bet generates a winning guarantee.

Sunderland vs. Manchester City United Preview

Match Date: 10 November 2013 (local time)

Venue: Stadium of Light

Team Form

Sunderland

Gus Poyet banks on the positives despite losing to Hull in their last match.

Poyet stressed that the club can still survive if they they play with the same intensity as the 2nd half of the Hull encounter.
Sunderland has been at the bottom of the Premier League with a W1-D1-L8 record. Seven (7) of their last 8 matches ended in a defeat. Nevertheless, they are still a point better than Crystal Palace.

Winning against Hull was a necessity for Sunderland. Next on their list is Manchester City, where their likelihood of winning is slim and a victory prior to the match could have added more points, which will help them get out of the relegation zone.

Manchester City

Manchester City tried to make up with their 2-1 loss to Chelsea via thrashing Norwich with a 7-0 victory.

The Chelsea defeat was just too costly. Manuel Pellegrini and his boys, despite winning over Norwich, dropped to the 5th spot and somehow, decreased their chances of winning this season’s title. But Manchester City is still, fortunate. The club will have the opportunity to gain more points that requires little or no effort at all.

Pitted against Sunderland, the club can afford to focus on their Champions League encounter without worrying on their upcoming domestic league duty.

Football betting tip: Sunderland 1-2 Manchester City

Manchester City is the clear favorite in this match and shares a 0-1.5 Asian handicap to Sunderland. Considering the clubs’ current form, going for a 2.130 spells a profitable bet.
