José Mourinho lambasted what he referred to and described as a “soft Chelsea” after losing to Newcastle United despite dominating the first half of the competition.

Chelsea’s recent defeat was simply frustrating and unforgivable. Not only did they concede 2 goals, but also allowed their opponents to keep a clean sheet against them. But if there is anything that is more disappointing than losing to a club, which has a lower rank, this is missing the opportunity to topple Arsenal and grab the lead in the Premier League table.

The Blues currently occupies the 2nd spot this season. It holds a W6-D2-L2 record and is now 5 points short of Arsenal’s 25. Although it is ranked as the 2nd best team, the only thing that separates them from Liverpool and Tottenham Spur is the goal difference. All of them has already accumulated 20 points and as the competition gets tougher every day, Mourinho’s frustration is readily understandable. Chelsea needed the above-mentioned victory in the same way that Arsenal needed to beat Liverpool. It served as a preventive measure to any aspiring opponent since they still have unfinished businesses in the Champions League.

Pitted against West Bromwich Albion, the club is compelled to score a victory. They have no reason to accept defeat as they are playing in their own soil. Six (6) of their last home matches ended in their favor and the upcoming match can be their 7th win, unless Chelsea’s “soft side” emerges again.

West Bromwich Albion

A match against Crystal Palace gave the Baggies a lift from the 12th spot to the 11th spot.

After a 4-1 thrashing from Liverpool, the encounter with Crystal Palace gave the Baggies the much needed win. Goals from Saido Berahino and Gareth McAuley prevented a downward spiral, which can become even worse if not immediately remedied.

The Baggies experienced a sudden halt in their progress after the surprise victory over Manchester United. The club was forced to settle for a draw twice and then received a humiliating loss. With the Crystal Palace victory, the Baggies shall have a dose of inspiration to pump them up when they visit Stamford Bridge.

Football betting tip: Chelsea 2-1 West Bromwich Albion

Chelsea is the clear favorite in the match. Its winning performances at home spells bad news for West Brom as these can also put a stop to their progress.

Moreover, Mourinho’s challenge will certainly awaken the scoring instinct. In relation to this, going for a 1.73 to 2.25 odds prove to be a profitable bet.

Crystal Palace vs. Everton Preview

Match Date: 09 November 2013 (local time)

Venue: Selhurst Park

Team Form

Crystal Palace

Though there are plenty of matches left this season, Crystal Palace’s foresees a bleak future as they suffered their 6 consecutive defeat.

Losing to West Bromwich Albion added more problems to the struggling Crystal Palace. Their poor record stands at W1-D0-L9. Adding more concerns is the resignation of Ian Holloway, who voluntarily exited the club after a 4-1 thrashing from Fulham. Other than that, one of their key players, Adlene Guedioura experienced a “rib injury” during their West Brom match. No reports have been released on whether Guedioura can make it to the Everton encounter.

Crystal Palace has already lost  7 of its last matches. They have also failed to score and conceded at least 2 goals for their opponents.

A scoreless draw with Tottenham Spurs prevented Everton from moving a notch higher in the Premier League rank. But Roberto Martinez insisted that they should have been given a penalty.

Martinez’ stressed that Seamus Coleman’s clash against Andros Townsend deserve a penalty instead of being totally disregarded. He further added that the penalty does not immediately translate to their victory. Rather, it was a necessary call that was left unnoticed.

The match was of high importance to Martinez since it could catapult their rank to the top 5. Everton currently occupies the 7th spot in the Premier League, with a W5-D4-L1 record.

Football betting tip: Crystal Palace 1-2 Everton

It does not require an expert to see that Everton is a clear favorite in this match. Given this aspect at hand, going for a 2.260 to 1.720 bet is a lucrative pick.
