El Matador’s transfer was a big blow to Partenopei. Nevertheless, the club hardly felt it during its first match. Rafael Benítez’s impressive player acquisition did not only fill the void that Cavani left, but also made Napoli a strong Scudetto contender.

Despite Edinson Cavani’s absence, the Partenopei has effortlessly secured their first victory in Italy’s top-flight league.

Led by Marek Hamsik and José Callejón, the duo pulled off a 3-0 triumph against Bologna.
Indeed, the El Matador’s decision to leave the squad and play for Paris Saint Germain, was a great loss to Rafael Benítez and the rest of his men. Nevertheless, this did not prevent them from clinching their first win.

In response to Cavani’s loss, Benítez made a bold move to acquire the services of Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Higuain, Maria Callejon and Raul Albiol. Indeed, the approach may be a little bit frightening.

Yet, as shown in the last match, the three added more depth into the team. Marek Hamsik seemingly unstoppable goals, combined with the defensive skills offered by Pepe Reina have efficiently filled the void that El Matador left.

Chievo began its Serie campaign with a draw. While this may not be enough to guarantee their bid for the Scudetto, a draw is nonetheless better than trying to recover from a loss.

Last season, Chievo was 4 points behind Parma. They may not be the heavy favorites. However, the club proved that they too, are worthy of attention.

Football betting tip: Napoli goes for second straight win

Interestingly, the last 6 matches saw Chievo clinch 4 victories. As a matter of fact, during their last encounter this March, Chievo has managed to keep a clean sheet and score 2 smooth goals.

Nevertheless, it cannot be denied that Napoli, obviously, has a better line-up that can easily turn the odds into their favor. The mere fact that it started the season with a bang and without Cavani’s help, makes them a strong force to reckon with. It only showed that they are far from being dependent to a single striker.

Against Bologna, the club dominated the ball possession and had plenty of scoring opportunities. During the match, the Partenopei had 16 shots, whilst Bologna has only come up with 8.

The success of their previous battle can be attributed to Benítez’s erudite player acquisition. Indeed, it was an expensive deal. However, the deal eventually pays off.
