The Verdict:  Nantes’ Ligue 1 Debut Resulted In A Draw Against Bastia

Date: 11 August 2013, Stade de la Beaujoire

Bastia meets the newly promoted club, Nantes in an epic clash at La Beaujoire this August. Les Bleus is off to strengthen its campaign this new season, while Les Canaris shall prove that they deserve the promotion. With both clubs eager to clinch their first win, a draw is more likely to come about.

Les Bleus shall be sporting the former Valenciennes player, Jean-Louis Leca. His entry is expected to give more depth and experience to the club.

Five (5) years ago, Leca left the club and landed on the Valenciennes’ side. Armed with exposure to a different style and technique, his return brings high hopes for the team’s bid to move several notches higher in Ligue 1 rankings.

On the other hand, Les Canaris are already having an early warm-up. The club has been performing well in their friendlies, which Les Canaris head honcho, Michel de Zakarian, hopes to continue in their Bastia encounter. In lieu to this, Zakarian stresses the importance of spotting or creating sporting opportunities, instead of focusing on scoring alone.

A favorite between the two (2) clubs has not yet emerged. And this is pretty understandable.

With both teams showing equal winning potential, it is less likely for the team to concede a single goal or to miss an equalizer. Bastia can dominate the match and so is Nantes.

However, if there is anyone that will truly benefit from this match, this is no other than the supporters who will be enjoying a heart-pounding encounter on the pitch.
