Match Date: 14 September 2013 (local time)

Venue: Coface Arena

After making a strong finish against Bayer Leverkusen, Schalke maintains the momentum as they visit Coface Arena. On the other hand, the host, which just had its first taste of defeat, Mainz 05 are determined to put an end to their winning spell.

With both clubs showing a high degree of competitiveness, it is not impossible for the match to end in a draw.

Mainz 05

Mainz lost its chance to have a taste of being Bundesliga’s top club when Hannover 96 thrashed them in a 4-1 victory.
Despite the disappointing loss, the O-Fives retain a strong form as they face Schalke.

To date, the defeat to Hannover was the first in the club’s records. The previous 3 matches that it had prior to the Hannover encounter, ended in their victory.

In terms of their player condition, Julian Koch shall be sidelined after incurring an injury during their warm-up training.

Schalke is finally back on track after struggling in their first 3 matches. The hard-fought battle against Bayer Leverkusen paid off with a 2- 0 triumph, thanks to Jefferson Farfán, who converted the crucial penalty.
The Royal Blues’ last-minute victories did not end in Farfán’s penalty. Just when the transfer season was about to end, Jens Keller secured the signature of AC Milan midfielder, Kevin-Prince Boateng.

Boateng is no stranger to Germany’s football scene. Prior to his move to AC Milan, he had his first dose of German football in Hertha Berlin’s field.

Football betting tip:   Mainz and Schalke match to end in a draw

It is a total relief to Mainz that their encounter against Schalke will be held in their own soil. They can use the home court advantage to grab the lead and secure their victory. During their last 3 home matches, the club has managed to score at least 2 goals when playing at home.

However, they cannot be too complacent. Schalke’s last 3 away games saw them score over 2.5 goals. This can be the upset that they want to avoid, but Schalke wants to avoid.

Players to watch out for

For the Royal Blues’ side, Schalke must keep an eye on Nicolai Müller. The latter has been sending terrors in the pitch with his accurate and on target shots. To note, it was only against Wolfsburg that the latter failed to score.

As for the O-Fives, they must be wary of the Boateng-Aogo-Farfán trio. Triumph and victory are the only things that can be expected whenever these three (3) grace the pitch.
Brace yourself for an action-packed match between Mainz and Schalke. Likewise, be prepared should the game ends in a draw.
