Updated: September 5, 2013

Match Date: 14 September 2013 (local time)

Venue: Signal Iduna

Dortmund shall take the spoiler’s role when it meet Hamburger SV at Signal Iduna. Fueled by the ambition to finish strong in Bundesliga and redeem itself in the Champions League, Jurgen Klopp and his men shall not waste their time disappointing their supporters.

Borussia Dortmund

A hard-fought battle against Frankfurt gave Dortmund the needed points to climb into Bundesliga’s top spot.

Boasting 12 points, Dortmund is the only club that has maintained a clean slate in Germany’s top-flight league. This is despite the void left by star player, Mario Goetze.
Rising to the occasion are new recruits Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mikhtaryan. Mikhtaryan in particular, was the Frankfurt face-off hero when he scored Dortmund’s opening and last goals.

Robert Lewandowski also made an impression when he netted the match’s only goal against Werder Bremen. There have been talks regarding the striker’s disappointment over the cancelled transfer to Bayern Munchen. Yet, amidst the controversies, Lewandowski catapulted the club upwards into the ranking. He has also confirmed that he will be staying with Dortmund until the end of the season.
Speaking of transfers, Dortmund fans recently launched a campaign to set Kagawa “free” from Old Trafford and return to Signal Iduna.

Unfortunately, Kagawa turned down the offer and disclosed his dream of proving himself into the English outfit.

Hamburger SV

Things are a bit rocky in the Red Shorts’ camp. The club has just clinched its first victory against Braunschweig. Ending the match with 4 goals and a pure Braunschweig thrashing, the club was able to bridge the gap, which resulted from the 5-1 loss to Hoffenheim.

During the transfer rush, the club has managed to secure the signature of Sunderland’s Ji Dong-won.
Unfortunately, just when the blue skies are about to appear, midfielder and team captain Rafael van der Vaart succumbed to a thigh injury during the German squad’ training. It is still unknown on how long he will be sidelined.

Online betting tip: Dortmund scoring 2 goals

Given Dortmund’s current record, the club becomes an automatic favorite in the match. Klopp and his men shall seize all the opportunity to keep themselves on the top spot of the league.

Moreover, Dortmund will be playing in their own territory. The club has won 3 of their last home matches with a 1-goal lead over their opponents and Hamburger is no exception. It can be a neck to neck encounter. But with Vaart nursing an injury, expect Dortmund to capitalize on this opportunity.

Likewise, it must be noted that Dortmund dominated its last 6 matches against Hamburger. While it is true that Red Shorts have the momentum, there is no assurance that it can bring them the victory in Signal Iduna.
