Match Date: 23 September 2014 (local time)

Venue: Stade Auguste Delaune

A 3-0 win against Rennes, coupled with Paris Saint Germain’s (PSG) unfortunate luck last weekend, Marseille was able to steal the spotlight from the defending champion as it occupied the top spot of the Ligue 1 table.
Reims also did well during its match against Lorient. However, it should be wary of Marseille’s newly found confidence as the latter is determine to remain on top until the end of the season.

The contenders

Stade de Reims

A clinical Benjamin Mounkandjo propelled Reims into a narrow victory against Lorient. Totally alert and anticipating a cross from Odair Fortes, Moukandjo did not waste the opportunity to convert and gain three (3) crucial points for Reims. Indeed, it was a close encounter, considering the fact that Lorient dominated possession.

An explosive Andre-Pierre Gignac ensured that the online betting favorite, Marseille will not only take the upper-hand in the match, but in the whole domestic league. On the 63rd minute, Gignac scored his 2nd goal, which, evidently, translated to their automatic win.

However, Marseille was not through yet. During the last minute, Romain Alessandrini converted the squad’s 3rd goal.

Possible head turners

Aware of Reims’ over home court advantage, expect Gignac to have another explosive performance. It has been a while since Marseille dominated France’s top-flight league and definitely, he will not let this moment pass by.
