Ligue 1 Preview: SC Bastia vs. Toulouse FC

Updated: August 20, 2014

Match Date: 23 August 2014 (local time)

Venue: Stade Armand Cesari

It looks like Bastia’s defeat to Paris Saint Germain (PSG) exposed them to more troubles when the striker, Brandao took matters into his own hands after the match. The result of his (immature) actions may weaken Bastia’s attacking department that they might find it even hard to snatch a win at home when they face the sports betting favorite, Toulouse.

The contenders

SC Bastia

Ligue 1 just experienced one of the most shocking incidents in the league’s history when Brandao threw a head-butt against PSG’s Thiago Motta in the tunnel. According to reports, Brandao’s action stemmed from a challenge in the pitch, in which the Brazilian striker failed to get a free kick.

Although Brandao’s actions readily defied the realms of professionalism, his has indispensible credentials that could easily transform his as one of the world’s football greats. Scoring 91 goals, he helped Shakhthar Donetsk win the title.

Back in Bastia, he is considered as one of the club’s reliable strikers. Unfortunately, even the legendary Calude Makelele cannot buy him out of trouble and indeed, Brandao’s impending departure could mean tons of headache for the newly-appointed manager.

Toulouse FC

Toulouse may not have the home court advantage when they visit Bastia, but its recent victory against Lyon generates the confidence they need to collect more points.
TFC had  a weak start when they lost a down the wire match against Nice. However, it has managed to recover during its encounter against Lyon. The former dominated the match with Jean-Daniel Akpa-Akpro scoring on the 10th minute and Wissam Ben Yedder snatching the winning goal.

Possible head turners

Ben Yedder has been consistent since day one and it is not surprising to witness him score another point for Toulouse when they visit Bastia.

What the odds say

Considering the (crisis) that Bastia confronts, it becomes a profitable wager to go for Toulouse. Sports betting sites such as 12BET values Toulouse to win at 2.49.
