Match Date: 31 August 2014 (local time)

Venue: Parc des Princes

Paris Saint Germain (PSG) had to be content with yet another round of even steven finish. But despite this frustrating result, their title defence remains strong.

The contenders

Paris Saint Germain

Once again, defending champion, PSG had to settle for a draw. Evian Thonon Gaillard badly needed some points to compensate for their dismal performances during their first 2 matches. Surprisingly, they got it at PSG’s expense. It was a scoreless stalemate though. Good for them, but not for PSG.

Aside from the even steven finish, PSG will be missing the services of Yohan Cabaye, who got a booking during the said match. His absence will readily put the club’s  midfield to the test.

St. Etienne

St. Etienne’s match against Rennes also resulted to an even steven finish. They had the chance to grab the edge, but Mevlut Erding missed the crucial penalty.

But unlike PSG, St. Etienne’s performance in its previous matches have been impressive. It currently occupies the 2nd spot of the table and has yet to experience defeat.

Possible head turners

Edinson Cavani has been taking more scoring opportunities lately. Yet, he needs to be more clinical. Marco Verratti and Blaise Matuidi should be able to provide Cavani the opportunity that he needs.

From St. Etienne’s camp Max Gradel showed signs of wanting to help Erding in the scoring responsibilities and will most likely feature at Parc des Princes.

What the odds say

Despite the slow start, Paris Saint Germain remains the favorite in the sports betting site, 12BET. The club is valued to win at 1.91 while handing over a 1 Asian handicap to St. Etienne.
