AS Monaco

Match Date: 24 September 2014 (local time)

Venue: Stade Louis II

Last season’s title contender and sports betting favorite, AS Monaco just grabbed its 2nd win when it went against Guingamp last week. Hopefully, the said victory will inspire the squad to return to its winning ways and bring back the grit and aggressiveness it once had. Apparently, Monaco greatly suffered with the sale of Colombian international, James Rodriguez and sudden loan of renowned striker, Radamel Falcao.

The match against Montpellier should work in their favor, but knowing that Montpellier fares better than they do, AS Monaco will definitely have a hard time securing an important win.

The contenders

AS Monaco

AS Monaco moved away from the relegation zone via clinching a narrow win against Guingamp. On a closer look, Monaco’s  current performance was not at par with what they did last season. Indeed, losing their key players has readily affected their performance.

With the way AS Monaco plays, it seems that the squad shall have a hard time competing for the title. Now ask if they will be able to survive relegation,  well, that is still too early to predict. Indeed, they might survive, but it will not be an easy battle.

Montpellier was stuck at th 6th spot after a scoreless stalemate that it had against Lille. The result of the said encounter was quite frustrating since it could have propelled them to a better and higher rank.

However, it was still a much better outcome than losing the opportunity to clinch a single point.

Possible head turners

It will be a battle of defenders and expect a close fight between Montpellier’s Hilton and AS Monaco’s Layvin Kurzawa. Kurzawa, however, incurred a booking during the Guingamp encounter and this might readily affect his upcoming performance.
