Toulouse-week 11

Match Date: 24 October 2014 (local time)

Venue: Stade Feliz Bollaert

RC Lens’ chairman, Gervais Martel remains confident that his side will retain its Ligue 1 status. This is despite the unfortunate event of clinching several read cards during the encounter against the defending champion, Paris Saint Germain (PSG).

The contenders

Two (2) red cards were slapped against RC Lens in their controversial face-off against PSG. Such situation further lowers their possibility of moving out of the relegation zone as the absence of their key players will most likely affect their attacking style and techniques.

Lens currently occupies the rock bottom part of the Ligue 1 table. The club has only won twice in its last ten (10) matches. Majority of its encounters ended in bitter losses. Yet, as Martel stressed, he remains optimistic of the club’s feature and that the upcoming winter break will give them the luxury of time to rethink all of their approaches.

Toulouse had to endure a clean sheet from the current Ligue 1 leader, Marseille in their most recent clash. The club could barely stop the league leader in their attacks and it also experienced difficulties in creating scoring opportunities.

Due to the said defeat, Toulouse dropped to the 9th spot of the league table. Nevertheless, with the squad’s strong performance at home, it is less likely for them to drop the three (3) points easily.

Toulouse has remained unbeaten in its last seven (7) home matches and from the looks of it, the  favorite, there is a low probability for them to back down.

Possible head turners

Toulouse’s Dusan Veskovac impressed during the match against Marseille. A replication of his impressive performance is crucial when the club goes against Lens, which will be playing without Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Jerome Le Moigne.
