Match Date: 24 September 2014 (local time)

Venue: Parc des Sports, Annecy

Standing at the rock bottom pit of France’s top-flight league, Evian Thonon Gaillard is desperate to have its first taste of victory this season. Yes, the squad has not won a single match and thrives with a single point, courtesy of a painstaking draw that it had against Paris Saint Germain (PSG).

Evian’s current situation readily works to the advantage of Lens. While it is true that the squad was defeated by Saint Etienne, its good performance during its previous encounters assure that they are far from being a relegation candidate.

The contenders

Other than the fact that Evian suffered its 3rd consecutive loss, what is even more disappointing is that the squad has never won in any of its last 6 matches. As mentioned, the only thing that keeps them alive was a stalemate against PSG.

Unfortunately, such will not suffice. Earning a mere point after 6 matches was never good enough.  Evian needs to step up its game before it becomes too late.

Lens displayed a fantastic performance against Saint Etienne during its last match. Indeed, they lost the game. Nevertheless, they put up a good fight. They may be one of the newly promoted squads in Ligue 1, but certainly, their caliber is as good as the players of any team tagged as an online betting favorite.

Possible head turners

Lens had several scoring attempts in its previous match. But it hardly converted. Should the squad become more clinical, one can expect goals coming from Loick Landre and Adamo Coulibaly. These particular duo can be deadly and will therefore require utmost defensive stops from Evian.
