Match Preiew: Lille vs. Ajaccio

Match Date: 05 October 2013 (local time)

Venue: Grand Stade Lille Métropole

Lille’s visit to Stade de Gerland resulted to a goalless stalemate and a magnificent display of power by Vincent Enyeama. Enyeama’s crucial save was his 6th clean slate this season. With all eyes set on the Nigerian goalkeeper, Lille’s legion of supporters look forward to another superb save when they meet minnows Ajaccio in their territory.

The battle in Stade de Gerland witness the Mastiffs create different goal scoring opportunities. Unfortunately, none of those attempts were converted. Rising to the occasion, Lille also kept Olympique Lyonnais at bay. But the match’s highlight took place when Enyeama denied Bafetimbi Gomis’ almost perfect winning shot.

Enyeama’s brilliant performance is readily expected when they go against Ajaccio. Although they have no reason to worry as football betting odds work in their favor, clinching another clean sheet gives them added advantage in the league.

The Verdict: Lille 2-0 Ajaccio

Lille’s brilliant goalkeeper is not the sole reason behind their edge. Technically speaking, the club has a better form and sits comfortably in the 4th spot. This is in stark contrast to Ajaccio, which is just 2 notches away from the relegation zone. Ajaccio was defeated in 15 of their last 16 away matches. Against Lille, only a bleak future awaits them.

Match Preview: Nantes vs. Evian Thonon Gaillard

Match Date: 05 October 2013 (local time)

Venue: Stade de la Beaujoire

Having won their first away match and dominating the pitch in the derby against Rennes, Nantes are keen on maintaining their winning streak as they go against Évian. Confidence soared even higher as Évian’s defender, Jonathan Mensah is sidelined for 6 weeks.

Breaking their unfortunate losing spell on away matches, Filip Djordjevic triggered the Canaries’ scoring spree when he converted on the 17th. What followed was crucial steals and 2 more goals from Serge Gakpe and Lucas Deaux. As they are about to play in their own territory, expect Nantes to put more pressure and attack in the pitch.

Évian, which currently occupy the table’s 13th spot may have a hard time countering the hosts. As mentioned, Mensah is injured. His absence, most especially in matches crucial matches such as this one, will definitely affect Évian’s movement and defence during the encounter.

The Verdict: Nantes 2:0 Évian

The match is just the 3rd encounter of both clubs. In their previous 2 matches, Évian took the lead. Nevertheless, in the same way that Nantes has broken their away match scourge, expect the club to go for a reversal of roles and that will mean, Nantes, getting the upper hand.

Match Preview: Toulouse vs. Nice

Match Date: 05 October 2013 (local time)

Venue: Stadium Municipal

Playing in their own soil, Toulouse plans to snatch its 3rd win at home. Do they still have the strength to compete against the competitive Nice?

Prior to the Nice face-off, Paris Saint Germain kept Toulouse at bay. The victory landed PSG on top of Ligue 1’s table while it pushed Toulouse in the 14th spot. Nice, on the other hand, just came from a fresh victory over Guingamp. Currently, Nice occupies the 5th spot of France’s top-flight league.

Despite their recent loss, Toulouse keeps its spirit alive. The club has shown a considerable strength when playing at home. The truth is, the club has already won 5 of its last home matches.

The Verdict: Nice 2: 1 Toulouse

Toulouse may find it indeed comfortable and convenient to clinch a victory. Unfortunately, their current form, compared to Nice, is in a losing end. The latter has only lost once in its last 6 matches, while Toulouse were already defeated twice. Nice has already secured 3 victories, while Toulouse have only succeeded twice. In this particular match, it takes more than pitch familiarity to win. Thus, sports betting sites will most likely pick Nice as favorite.

Match Preview: Valenciennes vs. Reims

Match Date: 05 October 2013 (local time)

Venue: Stade de la Beaujoire

After escaping a possible thrashing from Monaco, Reims look forward to securing another when they visit Valenciennes in Stade de la Beaujoire.
Reims’ current form is neither impressive nor disappointing. Five of their last 6 matches ended in a draw and these have been keeping them away from the relegation zone. Such performance exhibits a huge difference from Valenciennes and explains why sports betting odds are in their favor.

Placed at the bottom pit of Ligue 1, Valenciennes cannot seem to stop its losing streak. The club has only won once and then stumbled into 7 consecutive defeats. Despite having the potential, there is no doubt that their encounter against Reims will only give the latter more points.

The Verdict: Reims 3: 1 Valenciennes

It does not take a genius to understand that Reims have better chances of winning. Their team form alone, readily shows that they have the upper hand in the match. As for Valenciennes, they can force a draw against Reims—so far, this is the best result that they can come up with.
