Although seated at the rock bottom part of Ligue 1, Ajaccio stunned Nantes with a 2-2 stalemate last weekend. This enabled the club to score a single point and continue their rally for survival this season.

Ajaccio’s current form needs a major improvement and the draw can be a good starting point. Prior to the stalemate, the club has to endure 3 consecutive defeats and a draw against Evian. They managed to win against Rennes though. But this is barely enough to ensure their appearance next season. Starting with the draw, they club needs to continue with their good performance. They cannot afford to stop winning as they might find themselves playing at France’s second division soon,

Meanwhile, Guingamp’s performance was also short of being impressive. A narrow defeat to Evian Thonon Gaillard has also caused them to slip in the table. They are now occupying the 14th spot and are slowly moving closer to the relegation zone.

Prediction: Guingamp

Football betting tips like this one point to Guingamp as the match’s heavy favorite. They are pitted to win at 2.23. However, one may also look into the possibility of ending in a stalemate give their poor team form.

Evian Thonon Gaillard vs. Valenciennes

Match Date: 16 March 2014 (local time)

Venue: Parc des Sports

Evian pulled off a major win against Guingamp. With such victory, the club scored 3 crucial points, which helped them veer away from the dreaded zone. Although the squad remains unsafe from the possibility of leaving the top-flight league, the victory may well serve as an inspiration to perform even better.

In terms of their team form, Evian’s recent victory is their second consecutive win within their last 6 matches. Three (3) consecutive draws helped them thrived during their most difficult moments, but a loss against Bordeaux almost crushed them to the bone.

Similar to Evian, Valenciennes also secured a crucial triumph over the weekend. The club was able to get away from Rennes’ threat and improve their current state in Ligue 1.

Valenciennes still lingers within the relegation zone. Yet, they have somehow, narrowed the gap against Evian to 5 points. With a little bit of consistency, Valenciennes is still, technically capable of surviving this season.

Prediction: Evian Thonon Gaillard

Evian is the top pick to win at 2.28. They will most likely take advantage of Valenciennes poor away form. The latter was winless in 6 of their last 7 away matches and the number of the goals they concede average at around 3. Given this aspect at hand, it will be a bit difficult for Valenciennes to take the sports betting site’s role.

Lille vs. Nantes

Match Date: 15 March 2014 (local time)

Venue: Grand Stade Lille Metropole

Lille continued their 5-match undefeated streak when they outlasted Montpellier in their encounter last weekend. The face-off ended with a 2-0 victory in Lille’s favor, much to the delight of its supporters.

Lille manifests a strong and impressive performance at home. In their last 3 home matches, including the one against Montpellier, the club was able to keep clean sheets as it held its opponent at bay.

The club has also shown a tremendous defence strength when playing in their own territory as the total number of goals recorded is lower than 3.

Meanwhile, a draw is the best result that Nantes can deliver last weekend. It was a bit frustrating on their side though as the minnow  Ajaccio has managed to force them to settle in an even steven finish.

Prediction: Lille

It is the strong Lille, which stands as the match’s online betting favorite. They are expected to win at 1.97. Given the club’s defensive strength, the number of goals may range from 2-3. Such betting option is pegged at 1.86 in 12BET’s total goal offer and may deliver profitable value to punters.

Montpellier vs. Bordeaux

Despite losing to Lille, Montpellier is still, the match’s online betting favorite over Bordeaux. Their strong team form makes them a threat to those who will dare oppose or counter their strategies on the pitch. With their upcoming match, they are pegged to win at 2.01.

Montpellier is on the 13th spot of the table. It may not be as high or as good as what they have accomplished last season, but they have successfully delivered an undefeated streak in 5 of their last 6 matches and was only halted when they encountered Lille.

Bordeaux, on the other hand, is currently the 8th best club in Ligue 1. However, they have only managed to secure 2 victories in their last 6 encounters. Majority of them were losses. What is even worse was that they were unable to score a single goal in all their defeated matches.
Adding more misery to Bordeaux is their struggling away form in which they have also lost their last 4 away matches.

Olympique Lyonnais vs. AS Monaco

Match Date: 16 March 2014 (local time)

Venue: Stade de Gerland

Les Gones just pulled off a come from behind win against Bordeaux, which resulted to their sudden rise in the Ligue 1 table. The club now sites on the 5th spot of the table and is just 3 points short of qualifying into the Europa League next season.

Just when Bordeaux thought that it was over, Henri Bedimo and Corentin Tolisso scored 2 quick goals, which enabled them to steal the spotlight from their opponent. Other than clinching a hard-fought 3 points, the performance will also serve as the club’s main source of inspiration when they go against the title contender, AS  Monaco.

Other than the inspiring win, Olympique Lyonnais also has an impressive team form to brag. They were unbeaten in 5 of their last 6 matches and they can also use their home court advantage to destroy their opponent easily. Olympique Lyonnais has been undefeated in their last 12 encounters at Stade Gerland and this should keep AS Monaco up on their toes when they meet.

 AS Monaco and Lyonnais

But AS Monaco’s present team form is also as impressive as that of Lyon. Similar to them, they also maintain an undefeated winning streak in 5 of their recent matches. This makes AS Monaco a truly worthy opponent when they meet. Other than their present team form, it is also important to note that AS Monaco has only experience 3 defeats within the whole season.

Prediction: Draw

Expect a down the wire match between the two clubs, with the high possibility of ending in a stalemate. Given the parallel strengths of the two online betting favorites, a draw at 3.01 presents a decent value.

OGC Nice vs. Bastia

Match Date: 15 March 2014 (local time)

Venue: Allianz Riviera

The Eaglets just flew to the 12th spot of the table after upsetting Marseille with a 0-1 victory. Nice, which has been struggling saw itself veer away from the relegation zone.

Nice’s present form may not be the best as they have already lost 3 of their last 6 matches. But their 2 victories, most especially, the recent one may inspire the club to work even harder and feature in their upcoming match against Bastia.

OGC Nice and Bastia

Nice has only won once against Bastia during their previous encounters. This makes their upcoming clash a challenging and exciting one as the club tries to reverse history and with the way things go, it seems that Nice shall once again, have the last say.

Bastia just suffered a thrashing from Paris Saint Germain. The latter kept them at bay with 3 points and the match’s result was their 4th unsuccessful streak. Making Bastia’s situation even more difficult is their poor away form.

The club has already lost thirteen (13) of their last fourteen (14) away matches and with a current team form of four losses, a draw and a win, it is highly possible for Bastia to throw the white towel in the match.

Paris Saint Germain vs. Saint Etienne

Match Date: 15 March 2014 (local time)

Venue: Grand Parc des Princes

Undefeated in their last 6 matches, the online betting favorite, Paris Saint Germain faces Saint Etienne with confidence that they will further extend their lead and successfully defend their title.

PSG just had a massive victory over Bastia. Goals coming from Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ezequiel Lavezzi sealed Bastia’s coffin and gained 3 more points for the incumbent champion. Such impressive performance is expected to continue knowing that their next match shall be held in their own ground.

 PSG and Saint Etienne

Throughout the season, PSG has managed to win twenty-six (26) of their last home matches. In their recent encounters, they were able to keep a clean sheet in 6 of their last 7 battles at home. Although Saint Etienne is one of the strong forces to reckon with, the meeting with PSG might give them a headache.

But PSG  should be wary of Saint Etienne’s attacks as well. The club also maintains a healthy team form in which they have only lost once. As a matter of fact, they currently sit at the 4th spot of the table and is keen on qualifying for the next season’s Europa League.

Prediction: Paris Saint Germain

Sochaux vs. Lorient

Match Date: 15 March 2014 (local time)

Venue: Stade Bonal

Sochaux’s narrow defeat to AS Monaco was not necessarily a manifestation of its weakness. To escape a possible thrashing can be considered as an achievement worthy of recognition and praise.

Sochaux, however, faces the difficulties common in clubs seated at the rock bottom part of the table. They are endanger of leaving the top-flight league and so they must force a down the wire match in every encounter. And this is what the squad is actually doing—to make it difficult for their opponents to clinch a win. Sometimes Sochaux is successful, sometimes they are not, but all their efforts have actually paid off as shown in their present team form.

 Sochaux and Lorient

On a closer look, it can be observed that Sochaux has been successful in four (4) of its last 6 matches. It has also shown improvements in its home performance. To note, they gained the upper-hand in their last 3 clashes at Stade Bonal. What makes them even more frightening was the fact that in the 3 home matches that they won, they were also able to keep a clean sheet, thus, signifying an overt improvement in their defence.

It is for this reason that Lorient, though they have a better rank, should be wary of Sochaux.

A comparison of their team forms show that they are not at par with the recent accomplishments of their opponent. Contrary to what is expected, they have only won once in their last 6 matches. Their narrow win against Saint Etienne came after enduring a 5-match losing streak.

Prediction: Stalemate

Lorient will want to continue its success, but so is Sochaux. Technically speaking, Sochaux may be the minnow,  but the assumed online betting favorite, Lorient, has not been performing well recently.

It is possible for Sochaux to exploit its home court advantage, win or force a draw. Between the two, it is the stalemate that will most likely happen. In 12BET, a draw is pegged at a profitable 2.96.

Reims vs. Marseille

Match Date: 14 March 2014 (local time)

Venue: Stade Auguste Delaune II

Unable to sustain their lead, Reims surrendered to Toulouse in a match, which ended to a bitter 2-3. After setting the tempo in the entire encounter, Toulouse came back with a late rally, which secured their unprecedented victory. Fortunately, for Reims, the result did not affect their rank.

Still on the 7th spot of the table, the club’s losses and wins during its last 6 matches, are equally distributed. The said performance may not be the best in the league, but certainly, this has somehow, prevented them from spiraling downwards.

But if there is one thing that will determine Reims’ strength and weaknesses, this is their upcoming match against Marseille.

Like Reims. Marseille also suffered a bitter defeat. Nice outlasted them in a narrow defeat, which resulted to a drop in the top-flight league’s table.  In terms of team form, Marseille has lost twice, won twice and drew twice in its last 6 matches.

Prediction: Stalemate

Only a single point separates Reims and Marseille, thus, one can expect a close match. Since both manifest the right to be hailed as the top pick of sports betting sites, it is safe to assume the possibility of ending in a draw. At 12BET, the encounter is pitted to end in an even steven finish at a profitable value of 3.04.

Rennes vs. Toulouse

Match Date: 15 March 2014 (local time)

Venue: Stade dele Route–de-Lorient

Rennes paid a heavy price in their defeat against Valenciennes. It marked their 2nd straight defeat and pushed them nearer to the relegation zone.

Just when it seemed that Rennes has already controlled the match when Ola Toivonen scored their first goal on the 48th, everything changed when Valenciennes’ Mathieu Dossevi made a quick response on the 54th. The matter became even worse when Majeed Waris extended Valenciennes’ lead to 2.

 Rennes and Toulouse

Rennes is still safe from the relegation, but sitting on the 16th spot barely guarantees their survival next season. With the said loss, the club is forced to engage in a fierce battle that is more intense than a championship match.

As for Toulouse, it will have enough inspiration to face Rennes. Compared to their opponent, they have secured their 2nd straight win when they outlasted Reims in a down the wire match. Their late rally did not only bring them the victory, but also pushed them to the top 10 of the top-flight league.

Prediction: Toulouse

In their last 6 matches, Toulouse has only managed to secure a victory twice. However, due to their better form, it is evident that they are the online betting favorite of the match. Undefeated in their last 6 matches, they are pitted to win at a profitable 2.72 at 12BET. Moreover, since they have scored an average of 2 goals in their last 4 matches, going for an over 2-3 at  1.83 presents a decent value.
