Match Venue: Stade de Gerland, Lyon

Olympique Lyonnais

Lyon’s unavailability list keeps on swelling, with players like Lacazette, Dabo, Vercoutre, and Umtiti sidelined either due to physical or pitch mishaps. The current 14th placers are also struggling with an inconsistent form, marred by four defeats moderately pacified by just three wins. Team boss Rémi Garde is desperate to knock down future opponents as the side’s most recent performances have been disastrous compared to their first two fixtures this season (when they were ranked atop the table). In addition, Alexandre Lacazette’s suspension brought the club to its minimum, and with the player’s absence expected to last until October 22, Lyon will have a difficulty regaining the top honor. Nonetheless, Grenier and Gourcuff have the potential to improve their troupe’s pace.

Bordeaux

Bordeaux have six lads—including first-team player Andre Biyogho Poko—unable to turn up in their future matches. The absences are just a few of the challenges that the side are confronting right now, worsened only by their back-to-back upsets in the Europa League. In the French-top tier football, the side started off lame and replicated their downfall four times more. Les Girondins were held on deadlocks in four matches, and thankfully, two victories (from their third and ninth fixtures) ensured that they will remain afloat of the relegation zone. But the fear of dwindling  in the table stays on, and coach Francis Gillot should learn how to find silver linings in this dilemma.

Football betting tip:  Lyon and Bordeaux are in dire need of points to avoid a relegation scuffle, but a seemingly even form and parallel abilities suggest that they will clash close enough to end their game in a stalemate.
