Ligue 1 Match Preview: Evian TG vs. Guingamp

Updated: October 10, 2013

Match Date: 19 Ocotber 2013 (local)

Match Venue: Parc des Sports, Annecy

Evian TG

Evian TG are besieged with a handful of injured players, which include Barbosa, Bertoglio, Ehret, Dja Dje Dje, Mensah, and Escobar. This might put a toll on the side’s traction in the competition, but coach Pascal Dupraz remains positive that the remaining players will do just fine. Their current standing and recent match results are otherwise telling that L’ETG are trespassing a track that may cause them to plunge in the relegation zone. Finding refuge in the table’s lowest cluster is absolutely not a good course to take, but it seems like Evian are on their way to do so. Obtaining more defeats than victories or draws, and having only scored nine points in nine fixtures, the side raked the 16th slot in the table—only two places away from the demotion-prone bottom three.

Newly promoted Guingamp are holding on a relatively good run in the French top-flight league. Dwelling in the midtable is not bad for a side that have only been admitted to Ligue 1 for seven seasons. Nevertheless, Guingamp should demonstrate better displays if they want to be remembered by supporters and online bookies in a much more high-profile fashion. Naïve and still reluctant to brandish their full potential, Jocelyn Gourvennec’s men can actually produce surprise performances that would stun their opponents. This was partly seen in their matches against Lorient and Rennes, and more noticeably in their clash with Sochaux.

Online betting tip: Guingamp have proven themselves to be a difficult side to beat at home, but when playing outside their home court, they are yet to make an impression. In this match, the visitors have high probability of obtaining their first away win this season. Evian are at their weakest right now, and Guingamp will take advantage of this peril to power up their conversion skills.
