La Real Steals The Show Again

Updated: August 19, 2013

Match Preview: Real Sociedad VS Elche

Match Date: 24 August 2013 (local time)

Venue: Estadio Manuel Martinez Valero

Football betting tipLeaving Getafe scoreless, Real Sociedad (La Real) will most likely have a repeat of their victory when they face Elche (Los Franjiverdes) at Estadio Manuel Martinez Valero.

Past performance

La Real entered the season with a great win over Getafe at home. The former kept a clean sheet and scored twice, courtesy of Carlos Vela and Haris Seferovic. It may not be one of the club’s most nerve-cracking matches, but, certainly, it was one of the most memorable. The exit of Philippe Montainer and Asier Illarramendi created a loud noise.

La Real was one of last season’s top finishers. Occupying the 4th spot and making it to the UEFA qualifiers, the club, is indeed, a force to reckon with.

Meanwhile, Elche is a new face in Spain’s top-flight league. After a 24-year absence, the Los Franjiverdes are back.

Indeed, they truly deserve the promotion. However, the bigger question is how long will they last in the league? Somehow, this is where the experience factor enters into the limelight. Although, one still needs to consider its performance against Rayo Vallecano, it cannot be denied that La Real will most likely give them a hard time to find their way through the net.

Against, Rayo Vallecano, Elche has the edge. They won 4 of their last away matches against the former and so far, it has lost 5 of its home matches. Yet, as mentioned, will the club, still carry the same edge and momentum against La Real?

What to expect

La Real will most probably go for long shots to convert scoring opportunities. Along with it, young players such as Inigo Martinez are expected to create a buzz.

On the other hand, although La Real has the advantage, they should be wary of the fact that many of Elche’s players already have an experience in Spain’s Primera Division. Some of them are on loan from other clubs.

Similarly, La Real should watch out for Carlos Sánchez, known for its tackling skills. Known as the so-called “Messi killer,” he can be a total terror on the pitch.  Alberto Botía will surely keep Jagoba Arrasate and his men on his toes. Botía is a promising defender, who can create a major upset in the match.
La Real is currently, in a much better form than Elche and there is a high probability of them winning. Yet, should they underestimate Elche, it is also possible for the latter to steal the spotlight immediately.
