La Liga Preview: Villarreal vs. Almeria

Updated: October 14, 2014

Match Date: 19 October 2014 (local time)

Venue: El Madrigal

Both Almeria and Villarreal will use their upcoming match as an opportunity to improve their respective rank in the top-flight league.

Almeria had to settle with an even steven finish against Elche, but it hardly helped them move forward. The same thing is true for Villarreal wherein its massive win against Celta Vigo barely gave them the upward push that they need.

The contenders

Moi Gomez spearheaded Villarreal’s scoring rally during their clash against Cela Vigo. His brace during the first half assured the group a well-deserved victory. But it seemed that the upcoming host and top football betting pick was not done yet. Several seconds before the match hit the 90th minute, Mario added another goal, which prevented Celta Vigo from making a grand comeback.

Inspired by his impressive performance, Gomez is keen on collecting and scoring more points for the squad.

Sitting on the 10th spot of the table, it is evident that Almeria’s current performance is far better than what they did last season. However, Francisco Rodriguez explained that this should not get into the heads of its players. The club manager stressed that there are still plenty of challenges that they must overcome in order for them to really prove their worth.

Possible head turners

Gomez’s eagerness to score more points for Villarreal signals a red flag for Almeria. Should his ambition materialize, there is no doubt that he can generate a tremendous headache for their opponents.
