RCD Espanyol

Match Date: 30 August 2014 (local time)

Venue: Estadio Cornella-El Prat

Both Espanyol and Sevilla kicked-off the season with a stalemate. Espanyol’s last minute rally earned them a point, whilst Sevilla’s inability to protect its lead paved way for Valencia to equalize. The results of their initial performances were not that bad after all. It is way much better than securing losing 3 important points. However, they need to step up their game in order for them to continue their campaign this season. Clubs have become more competitive and survival might become a major issue.

The contenders

Espanyol

Thanks to Sergio Garcia’s last minute rally, Espanyol was able to escape the threats of defeat. Almeria took the lead early in the second half. And it seemed like the squad is on the verge of losing. It seemed that Espanyol will have more problems with the impending exit of David Lopez to Serie A giant, Napoli.

A booking from the previous match shall miss the services of Anaitz Arbilla.

Sevilla

But of course, Sevilla was readily disappointed with the result of its match against Valencia. But in as much as Espanyol worries about Lopez’s exit and so is Sevilla who will be missing the services of Fazip and Miroslav Stevanovic, who refused to continue his contract with the squad.

Possible head turners

New faces will grace Sevilla’s camp soon. There is a strong possibility for Gaston Ramirez to feature in the upcoming match.

What the odds say

Online betting odds readily favor Espanyol. The latter is valued to win at 2.40 against Sevilla’s 2.93.
