Updated: October 14, 2014

Match Date: 19 October 2014 (local time)

Venue: Martinez Valero

Sevilla’s 4-1 thrashing of Deportivo La Coruna propelled its rank to the 3rd spot of the La Liga table. Considering the success of its current performance, the squad is eager to snatch another win and continue its impressive start.

But Sevilla is not alone in its aim to collect more wins. Elche also shares the same sentiment and is keen on featuring at home.

The contenders

An even steven finish against Almeria helped Elche improved its rank in the league table. The club currently sits on the 16th spot, but remains at risk of dwindling down to the relegation zone, unless they secure a victory soon.

Recently, Elche took the spotlight due to a budding rift that it has against match officials. Such issue erupted when the squad had to deal with penalties awarded against them during their previous encounters and even the one against Almeria did not skip the scrutinizing eyes of many.

However, Fran Escriba refused to dwell on this matter and preferred to focus on the team’s image instead.

Despite Sevilla’s current success, its head honcho, Unai Emery remains realistic on the club’s strengths and weaknesses. He stressed that the club must be “cautious” since it is still a long way to go before the season ends.

Although it is evident that they are the match’s online betting favorite, Sevilla cannot be too complacent, most especially now that its trusted defender, Nico Pareja will be sidelined due to injury issues.

Possible head turners

Carlos Bacca is one of the influential figures in Sevilla that Elche should be wary of. The striker currently enjoys an excellent season and will most likely feature in the upcoming match.
