Osasuna and Valencia

Match Date: 19 April 2014 (local time)

Venue: Estadio El Sadar

Javi Gracia has all enough reasons to be disappointed with his side’s scoreless stalemate against Valladolid. The point that Osasuna earned was barely enough to veer them away from the relegation zone. And as bottom clubs struggle for their survival, Osasuna’s possibility of slipping into the rock bottom part of the table remains high.

Osasuna’s current form was far from being cooperative as well. To note, its last 6 matches saw them won once. The series of lackluster performances greatly contributed to its inability to move to a safer zone. More problems seem to await the club as their next match is pitted against the aggressive Valencia.

Valencia currently ranked 8th in the La Liga table. Indeed, it is one of  the strongest clubs in the league. And just last week, it clinched a heart stopping victory against Elche. At present, the squad’s confidence level is high. It can use the momentum to feature in their upcoming match against Osasuna.

However, they cannot afford to be too complacent. The club experiences difficulties with their away performances and going against Osasuna may halt the squad in its ambitions to qualify again in the Europa League.

As of this writing, Valencia’s away performances saw them defeated in 9 of its last 10 away matches. Moreover, it was unable to score in 5 of its last 7 away matches. Given this aspect at hand, Osasuna might just grab such opportunity to turn the odds into their favor.

Prediction: Stalemate

Osasuna will definitely use its home court advantage to get the upper hand. However, considering the determination of Juan Antonio Pizzi, it is less likely for Valencia to wave the white flag.
